If you run ManiaPlanet while the system is in global offline mode, the game correctly detect this and shows a appropriate Message Box:

"You are not online"

But if you choose to go online, the system global offline state doesn't change. Instead the same Message Box appears again.

You can find a working sample to change the Systems offline mode here.

I can confirm, just tried it, because another user had issues with his connection as well.
