Update issue: Administrator rights

Hi, yesterday when starting Maniaplanet I got a message saying there was an update. So I updated and restarted. But now I can't get back into the game.

I get two messages:
---------------------------
ManiaPlanet
---------------------------
A new version of the game has just been downloaded. Some files are going to be updated.

This operation requires Administrator privileges.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

when I press OK here this next message appears:
---------------------------
ManiaPlanet
---------------------------
The update of game system files failed. To update, administrator rights are required. Contact your system administrator and ask for the rights. Also, check the amount of remaining free space in your installation drive.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

So what to do now? Naturally I checked the hard drive space and tried to run it as administrator, but it doesn't help.

Anyone have an idea what's up?

Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1.

As said in the bottom of the post, I already tried to run as administrator. :)

UAC is always off on my PC.

This is beginning to look like a complete reinstall scenario. Unless someone from Nadeo can help?

In some cases the downloaded files are not exchanged properly.
You should see leftovers (.tmp files) in your ManiaPlanet installation folder, as well as in the ProgramData\ManiaPlanet\PaksCache folder, which you can delete.

Another recommendation could be to temporarily (!) disable the antivirus software during the update procedure.

And yes the reinstall (or just install over the existing), by taking the most actual files from player page http://player.maniaplanet.com -> Account -> Download, should avoid this update loop at least once.

ah this was it then - a double or "faulty" updater w.r.t. ManiaPlanet.

Thanks for the information

Hey,

With the update that just went trough I'm having the same issue as above. I took a look at the other post but can't figure out what to do.

+ Where do I find the maniaplanet installation folder?

Greetings,

Cas...

first, try to turn off your antivirus before starting Maniaplanet and running the update.

The location of the installation files you will find at the help menu of the launcher application.

Hey,

Thanks for the quick answer.

I've tried running it with antivirus turned off --> gave the same problem.
I've deleted the .tmp files I've found but that didn't help.

I'll try redownloading it from player page and I'll get back to you.

It' s strange since it's the firt time i'm having this problem.

Greetings,

Cas...

Edit: Tried it, it started running but then told me there was an update. Did the update and same thing happend.

Then check if you don't have another protection software running in parallel (Defender, or a part of your antivirus you were not able to switch off earlier).

There was a game update today, probably the setup on the player page was not updated yet.

Can you see which file it is always downloading?
