Win 8.1 - 3D cannot be disabled [solved]

So, I was (kinda forced of) installing Windows 8.1 today and everything went fine first.
Because I was competing in todays TMX KnockOut before, I started TMU first to see what's going on. As I tried to start TMU a message came up that there is something required to be installed in order to be able to display the game properly. Because I was in a little hurry I clicked OK. After that the game started and everything was fine, so I didn't really mind (and didn't remember <.<) what was installed...

After a while I minimized TMU shortly to check something. When I was opening it up again my eyes were almost bleeding. I don't know why, but it seems that there was something like a 3D vision activated by any program except TMU itself, since the 3D option ingame was disabled. Since I was done with TMU anyway I just closed the game without trying to fix this issue.

Now I started ManiaPlanet and what awaited me was the exact same creepy 3D vision thingy that I've had in TMU before, so it has to be something "external" which influences every program/game on my PC...
Here's a screenshot: http://s1.directupload.net/images/131106/6wx27od2.jpg

The messagebox on the lower right is new too. Maybe it has to do something with the NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver, but I'm just a bloody noob when it comes to technical issues... So please be kind with me. ^^

Exactly this was asked already yesterday or the day before :?

1. Genrally for Windows 8: please make ManiaPlanet run in Windows XP compatibility mode
2. If you don't use or don't have at all 3D glasses, please uninstall the nVidia 3D Vision driver - it's totally useless
3. Uncheck the checkbox "3D Glass" in the configuration panel of the launcher dialog
4. Switch off Stereoscopy in the game itself (cog icon, video options)
5. if all this still doesn't help, please make a backup of your ManiaPlanet local profile data, and delete your configuration profile file (Default.System.Config.Gbx and other .System.Config.Gbx files you might have from earlier sessions).

OK now? :)

I was looking for similar threads in this Support-topic, but didn't found any, so yeah...

I was about to deinstall that 3D Vision Driver, but was not sure, if it might be useful for something or not. I deinstalled it now and everything seems to be back to normal again.

Thanks for answering.

are there any actual differences, if I don't encounter any problems?

If you don't encounter any problems, then obviously either Windows did recognize it itself already, or you're just lucky to have a constellation that is working fine, and there is no need to change it then.

The compatibilty mode mimics older Windows versions by overriding e.g. version numbers and interfaces, most probably by exchanging internally DLLs before the start of the application.
