with more attractive tools for painting, to apply effects to skins, interactive color mixer, access to paint the wheel. more compatible with 3d programs, to change the design of cars. It can be an external program TM2, but is part of the game. I expect great improvements in the painting tools.

Please understand that car models have many parts. sBody is for the skin (Diffuse.dds / paintable ingame) the rest (dBody (details), gBody (glass), all the other stuff) is not paintable ingame. You won't be able to paint wheels ingame because they are dBody

How do you know they're not planning on changing that back, Meto? They put that in TMS, and TMU, and some of TMUF, and a lot of the 3D models in TM-Carpark have paintable wheels...what I want to see in the paint editor is two things and I'll be happy.
1) Easy(ier) sticker import system
2) When you paint a car in the painter as opposed to an external program, it doesn't lower the resolution to something ridiculous. Now, before you all get on me about not using an external program, like GIMP, hear me out. I've tried. My cars look AWFUL because I don't know what goes where, parts-wise. And then don't even get me started on shading...I can't shade in an external to save my life, and if you don't have like the auto-shadow that the painter in TM generates, then you're driving a very pretty, very shiny, flat-toned block. So. I could, I guess, forgo point #2 IF there was someone in here that was either willing to teach me themselves or to direct me to a tutorial (other than the TM-Creative one) about how to paint in an external program.

Slight bump, but this integration of the paint tool concerns me a bit: could it mean the end of external skins or even custom cars with locators?
After all, you could use custom player models to cheat in Shootmania: make yourself look like a single pixel and the enemy can't see you. So obviously they won't let that happen - no custom player models in Shootmania. If the basic engine is the same, this may mean no custom cars in Trackmania?!

There are certain 'guidelines' that have to be followed, I'll bet, or the model won't be accepted. So high, so many polygons, or something. I'm sure that there'll be a system to monitor cheating. Heck, we have timecheats in TM now as it is, and the community is pretty good at policing itself when it comes to matters like this. So I'm sure if a playermodel gets put on SM-park or even just used in MP, there'll be a way to report it, for sure. This in no way means the end of custom 3D-models for the new maniaplanet series. If it was, it'd be the end of the ManiaWorld as we knew it.
