I made something really quick in PhotoShop. Its not the final design. Its just to illustrate my suggestion.
Basically, I think it would be cool to mix things up on the homepage.

The only thing I usualy see is:

So whats new?
For cups you could link to the prize-page, rules & sign up page.
You can link to the titles in the store
You can see dates of cups.
You could easily check for videos/cups/maps ( f.e. order by videos - you only see videos now )
etc etc

The checkouts are just spam by ManiaExchange. The more builder buddies you have the more messages you'll get ^^

Tho I agree on the filtering idea (even though the 1st pic somewhat reminds me of skinned Steam and the 2nd one Reddit )

Really really nice idea! It achieves a new level of organization and order in Maniaplanet (which was already increased of the MP3 update)
Currently, there are some cases where your buddys ''spam'' your news-page e.g. by releasing tons of new maps on one time. I know that they do not intend to spam us but this idea would actually solve this issue.

And you came up with a beautiful design

its an incentive to share ur stuff. If people know their news will be read they will share more & more easily.
The more people share, the more others will share , the more active the community becomes.

Its an upward spiral Well at least in my head it is.

I think the home-page could definitely be improved. As said, it just feels really cluttered right now, especially if you have a lot of buddies. Your suggestion would be a step in the right direction. Even more sorting options would be great though. So you could just see TM-news for example.
