avatars: supported files, filesize and resolution?

Hi, I'm creating a Manialink for Trackmania United Forever. I'm currently adding avatars to my manialink.
I know this forum is for Trackmania 2, but for the older games there aren't many people creating manialinks anymore or visiting that section of the forum...
I have the following questions (assuming you have the last update of the game installed):
animated avatars: what type(s) of files are supported and what is their maximum filesize and resolution?
non-animated avatars: same questions
