TMUF doesn't recognize graphics card

Post by riolu »

Just bought a new laptop and installed TMUF via the installer from the playerpage. Installed everything, no issues so far. When I first started up the game it did the obligatory performance check, but for some reason the game cannot recognize the graphics card and automatically lowers the quality to the lowest possible. Instead of the available 2GB it only shows 40MB

I also tried to fiddle around with the Nvidia System Panel, but there was no difference at all.

Maniaplanet works fine and recognized everything perfectly.

System specs:
Intel Core i5-4210U @ 1,7GHz
Nvidia GeForce 840M 2GB
8 GB DDR3 RAM
1 TB HDD
Windows 8.1 64-bit

Indeed :) Optimus technology screws up all graphic performance in order to save battery life (even if you are plugged in, some games are not recognized)

No need to touch AGP or any other secondary graphic setting from the game, it's a hardware problem.

Yes, but for some reason it doesn't change anything. When I right click on the icon and select "run with graphic processor", the standard is set to "integrated graphics" :https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/588 ... ttings.png,
while in Maniaplanet, the standard is set to "Nvidia high performance processor":https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/588 ... ttings.png

Whenever I set TmForever.exe and TmForeverLauncher.exe to "high performance processor", it still starts up with the integrated stuff. Very weird :/

Hi :)

Maybe its because you have a graphic chipset and not a graphic card. TMUF is quite old and maybe he only recognize graphic card and not chipsets.

I'm not a specialist but it could be the reason.
