this already has been mentioned in a few posts but no topic has been made to talk about it.
Trackmania Turbo was the Trackmania United port for the Nintendo DS. So, Nadeo, wtf happened? i don't know what they were thinking when coming up with that idea.

or calling their forth game Trackmania 2, what's up with THAT?

NADEO gave their Trackmania license to Octane and Firebrand to make 1 game on NDS and 1 on Wii. There are Trackmania DS and Trackmania Wii (what an original name). The DS game was and is always the most solded TM on DS, and they decided (NADEO, Octane and Firebrand) to make TM Turbo.

In fact, TM² is really the second Trackmania. Why? They made 3 "test" games : TM (which became TMO), TMS and TMN ESWC. Then, they regroup all of these games into one : TMU. So it's like the 10th or 11th Trackmania game, but with another engine.

Why did Nadeo decide to use the name Trackmania Turbo again? I can't answer that question. Only a NADEO member can do it but I hope I helped you.

Mostly legacy, we have taken the habit to call the console version "Turbo" :)
