people have been asking for environment mix, cockpit, weather, collision and AI since the beginning of time, we got (sort of, no stadium environment) one of these things so it's probably not happening

it means is that people have been asking for a cockpit camera for a long time and that never happened, pretty odd considering TMT will have oculus rift support.

Maniaplanet already has Rift support btw., even if still experimental.
VR support does not necessarily mean that a cockipt has to be implemented.
Trackmania is and always has been conceived as fast & fun arcade racing game, and not as perfect and absolutely realistic car simulation.
A cockpit is hindering the sight a lot, and it will be even more "ugly" with VR support, if it is not done carefully.

On the other hand, we don't know yet everything about TMT, therefore please simply wait to see it.

true but that's the kind of thing one would expect from a racing game since it greatly enhances the experience (watching the cockpit in VR), same for the head tracking that reddit was complaining about.
