contacting server

why doe's it take so long to contact a server in game had a message tonight that I was kicked because it took longer than 88secs before I could join a game, I click on any server and it comes up with the names of who is playing then I click on connect and it takes ages, I keep getting the message that I could not connect and I have to return to the main menu and start all over again. What's going on I have no prob creating my own in game server and have had other players join with no prob. More nights than not I just conno't play the game any reason why people.
