[Editor]multiplayer-idea

Hey all,

I have an idea for the Editor. My idea is in first line for TM, but could may be cool for SM and QM too, because there is an Editor as well. So I posted it to maniaplanet ;)

When a player (A) is building a track, then other players should see in their buddy-list, that he is not only connected, but in the Editor ("player A: In editor on 'track_name' ". As if player A would be on a server).
Then player B should have the possibility to click on his name and join to player A. Player A in the editor can see then, that his buddy (b) wants to join him. So he could select "yes" or "no", if A doesn't want to show, what he is building(sometimes this is necessary, if you build maps for cups or something else)
If player A selects yes:
Then player B joins to him and comes in a spec-mode, where he sees what player A is building (To realize it player A could host then a small "server" for the time he builds this track).
In the menu player A has the possibility to allow player B not only to spec, but to drive on the track. That means, that player b drives the track, while player A builds it. (If it's not possible in real-time, it should update the track-status for player b when he goes back to start ("DEL")).
Also there could be the possibility for player A to allow him to build on that track. Then player B can do the same things like player A can.

It should also be possible, that more players join on the Editor server. As long as there are no laggs an the author allows it. So there the players can race on a Track that is not finished yet.

Of course there has to be a chat for the players, sothat they can talk about the track and else.

I think with the MT it doesn't fit, but that's not my idea :P
Yeah that was all.

What do you think about it?

Don't like the idea. I would even go in the opposite direction and make it possible to go into the editor and disable the "buddy is connected" message. You should only be shown as connected, when you join the multiplayer section. This way you won't need to create a second offline account while builduing maps.

Then they should implement an option to turn this message off ('show as offline').
I guess there are people, who prefer it to build offline and people who prefer my idea.

Let's just see, what others think about it ;)

But i like the idea to just say that you're in the editor. You're not oblige to have a thing that make your friends can join you. They can only see that you're working on a track, in the solo story, etc. And also, as said in another topic that i don't remember, a chat with your friend like in steam you can talk to your steam friend or like xfire where you have a list of friend and are chating with them but include in the game (more like the steam friends system).

Voilà!

If you would invite a noob, he/she could delete your track.

Then you should give him only the rights to drive the track ;)

Multiplayer editor would require military cables to have a humane connection. Also expect that some people would do stuff and mess everything up.
Nah, do not want this.

You mean, that the connection is not good enough to provide laggs? I don't think so. Look at starcraft 2 there are hundreds of units running over the map and it's not lagging ;)

To provide, that players are messing everything up, it has to be possible to give them the rights to only drive(standard rights) others can have more rights to build as well. Just like on servers where you can force players to spec or disallow them to drive, by setting a password ; )

Also it would cause extreme f**kups if someone drives on your track and you suddenly delete the start/some blocks/everything
