How do you paste copied (custom) items higher up?

[EDIT] Forget it.. it has nothing to do with custom items. If you want to be able to paste at a different height, you should not copy objects, nor items that are located on the ground. If you copy floating objects or items, you can paste them at different heights just fine.
Hi. When I copy a set of placed (custom) items, trying to move the copied set up does not work for me as it does for e.g. blocks. Using the scroll wheel it does move the camera’s focal point up l, but I can only paste the selection at the same height as its original. Perhaps I need to provide some parameter in the XML while importing the item?
