A Few (Lot) Ideas

Some of these ideas may involve only one or two of the maniaplanet games, but some may involve all of them so Im putting this in Maniaplanet section

ManiaLinks
I have a lot of ideas for ManiaLinks to create , and Im a experienced programmer in PHP, HTML, CSS, JS, and ManiaLinks use special XML code, which is like a new HTML, so I thought: could we have possibilities like JavaScript or something that allows you to change site parameters without reloading the page? Then I would welcome some advanced features for videos in manialinks, maybe better videoplayer, or tools to create your own one.

Painter [TM]
People don't use the Painter mostly, just 3rd party tools to create their own cars and there is a reason for this. Maybe if the Painter was a little bit advanced, it would be used more. I'm talking about stuff like Bézier curve elements, or more fonts, or glow, bevel, shadow etc. effects for these elements. For example I use Bézier curve to create a star maybe, which is not yet there, then Im gonna texture it, add glow & bevel, add a text with my nickname under it and apply the same effects and put it somewhere on my car. I think that would be pretty cool, but difficult also.

Driving Engine [TM]
About this, I think you already know how you're gonna do this part of the game, but I still have an idea about this. A good driving engine would be like Coast in TMUF, but if you couldnt slide (drift) so easily. Thats engine, that NFS series use a couple of years and it still works fine (yeah they upgrade it of course but the core remains)

Open World
I mean in QM that would be great, but I think its a good idea even for TM. Singleplayer mode would have some large city, with forests and lake and something, where you can find all the tracks, not just browse in the menu, that would be greater fun. In multiplayer there would be the same, but created by players, and it would make playing multiple tracks on one server at once possible, but the server would need a bit more players, thats the only problem. Now even 5 players can be enough to play on server, but then you would need a little more. But it still allows server admins to play in "classical" mode. Im thinking also about changeable stuff... For example admin of the server blocks some part of the track from visiting, because the track is under construction, or he wants players to play only on one track because he doesnt have enough players, so he blocks other tracks and then unlocks after the end of the current track. About an open world in SM - I dont know, maybe thats not a very good idea, but maybe it is

SMACKDOWN MODE! [TM]
This is simply the mode with collisions enabled, and damage of course. F.e. I smash with the full speed into a wall - Im dead  . The goal can be only smashing the others, or race, but try to slow others by smashing them

Other Vehicles [TM]
It would be fun to have other vehicles like boats, or planes, or helicopters to race  . Maybe planes & helicopters are too crazy but think about boats :)

Vehicles [SM]
It is 21th Century, and now a FPS shooter without possibility to jump on helicopter with your friend and shoot from there while your friend drives is boooring  ;) .

I think thats all, please tell me what do you think, and I know all these ideas are little too big

All in all some good ideas ;) Here's what I think about them:

There are two kinds of car-skinners: One part uses the ingame-editor and doesn't create REALLY great stuff (except a hand full of people), the other part uses professional software and does some pretty cool stuff. The people who used the ingame-editor before will use it as well in TM2, but I'm not sure if everybody will take use of the new functions. The others will stay at there software because it will still be the better one.
So there'd only be a few people who'd know how to use those tools.

Always dreamed about this in the past, but anyway I'm sure, it'll stay a dream... just to difficult to release. :(

I'm not sure if i'd like this in TM..

There already is :D look here! (Just a joke^^)

All right. -I- use the in-game painter, and frankly, I'm pretty proud of my Crimson Streak series. I DON'T use 3rd party programs at all, why? Because there's no WAY to. When you lay out a skin flat like that, you lose all idea of where everything is, back on the car. If there was any way that someone could teach me how to 'read' a skin like that, I'd be more than happy to learn, but I've put out calls to more skilled artists and got nothin' back. And then secondly, while I'm able to paint a skin, possibly even in GIMP, I wouldn't be able to add the details back INTO the car, because I simply can't do it by hand, and if you go to the decal sets in the in-game painter, then the detail level drops to the floor. But if you stick with the in-game painter, then the LoD is comparable to something 'normal'. And, again, like I said, I've been able to make some pretty interesting creations with the in-game.

Uhh, dude? You -do- know that there's gonna be THREE different enviros, all with different physics and driving 'engines', like you say. Are you a Nations player? Get used to paying and playing more than one enviro, bro.

Interesting...but we already have something like that...uhh, it's called need for speed. NFS World, to be specific. Go play that.

Now, I'll admit I'm a bit on the fence about collisions in TM, I think it might be kinda fun...but I don't think a demo-derby mode should be included...TM is a RACE game, primarily.

Not boring...no need to be so narrowminded. There are a LOT of possibilities that Nadeo could go with. Let's try to be positive, and not dis this game before it comes out, huh? :?

Im am a United player, I was talking about idea for ONE of the 3 enviros...

I DO play NFS:World, its fun but still not as good as TM :D But TM with open world would be just awesome, so why not? ;)

Im sorry, but you still cant drive a boat on water, or helicopter in the air, if yes, its just a mediatracker/mod fake.

In that case, look no farther than Valley. That to me looks like a sped-up coast slightly without the skids.

Yes, but how would it be facilitated? To be awesome, fun, accessible, and -still- different from NFS or ProjectTorque?

If it's a helicopter you're after, maybe a racing game isn't for you. :P I don't ever remember helis being standard air-racing fare. Planes, maybe. But they wouldn't be jets. They'd be prop planes. And as for boats, we have a boat-racing game. It's called virtual skipper. If you want powerboats, e-mail Nadeo and tell 'em to put it into VSK6

The most significant difference is that players can create their own "open worlds" to use for servers or create something like "singleplayer campaign" ;) To understand, call it "Create your own NFS"

You can make a big track with lots of roads and finishes, put mediatracker to add side-misions and everything (for fun) and you will create an open world online with TM ;)

As for boats and Helicopters, mediatracker is the solution!

See, EVERYTHING is possible in TM ;)

Waitaminit. :P Actually, crazy's comment reminded me of a mod where it actually IS possible to drive on water in TM...there's a track that uses it--Venice race or something like that. So, yeah, you can drive on water. ;-) As for driving on "air", for helis and planes and whatnot, you could do that...just make the track transparent. Just make the checkpoints close enough so you don't get lost. 8-)

Firstly, CSS is useless in regards to Manialinks. HTML is a good to have, elements and attributes. As for JS, maybe, it isn't exactly safe in some cases, but it would certainly be a great addition to Manialinking. I agree with the video player too.

Well, actually I CAN'T make that big track, and "side-missions" can be done, but still are limited, because always the official goal is to go through all the checkpoints and reach finish. I actually found out that boats are possible :D But how would you go up and down with helicopter? The only way how to make helicopter in TM is to bring water up with ChallengeEdit, Ive tried that, but you still cant go up and down freely.

I played Venice Challenge or how is it called :D But I couldnt download the mod so I could see, that the water is just driving on grass in stadium with boat image added with mediatracker :D And for helis and planes, Ive already explained that... It is possible to make a replay of plane or heli but not the player to actually play with heli ;)
