Connecting pipe block and sign with another pipe block creates a curved pipe block

Trying to connect pipe block (8-4-1) and a sign block (or any block from 8-5-x group) with another pipe block (8-4-1) results in new curved pipe block (8-4-6) being created, even if it's obviously wrong.
