New Track Editor

What will be the limits of the new track editor? As I understand it 'arbitrary geometry' (which is MUCH desired. THANK YOU!) will still be limited to blocks. Will the blocks still be limited to a 32x32x16 grid? It would be awesome to have arbitrary geometry for the whole track. And is there a possibility that TMNF will get an update with Trackmania 2's track editor (not the environments, obviously, just the features)?

One thing I'm hoping for with the new game(s) and editor is greater trigger granularity. There are times, in TM, where there's just no way to get a trigger to fire when you want/need it to. It's often too early or too late, and you occasionally end up with certain track concepts being limited by trigger flexibility, which is a shame.

There are times when it would be really nice in TM to have triggers on a much smaller grid than everything else, and I can only imagine that this problem would be worse in a shooter, which is much more scripting/trigger dependent than most racing games...

i heard that ps3 has released (or will release) a new game called "modnation racers"
it has allso a track editor but you can do geometry from scratch. its a very cool track editor and maybe nadeo should make something like that :)
just go to youtube and type in modnation racers :)

i am a little confused :?
will the track editor have blocks again or will we be able to create 3d geometries?
it would be realy cool if TM2 will have a track editor that can create 3d geometries :D

Both - you have standard blocks but you can create your own (with an external software, maybe blender but its not decided yet) and then import them.

Import the whole earth as one giant block, and then travel it

Create my own track piece? Dang it, I suck at 3D model making.

What I'm hoping from the track editor is the ability to automatically make blocks that fit an arbitrary path. And I mean turn, slope, and twist. If not, I hope the block geometry data can be easily modified by fan-made programs. Is maniaplanet listening? This feature or lack of will entirely determine whether I think TM2 is worth anything over TMNF. I hope such an ability would not slow things down (since every block could potentially be different).

Oh, and remove track size limits, please, so the community doesn't have to again.

This should be sweet.

EDIT: Terraforming? I hope this isn't the best the track editor can do, or I'm done with the series. What about custom blocks?

I know, this thread is old, but i'm confused:

yesterday i saw the trackmania 2 e3 trailer, i looked like the track editor is like in tmnf and tmuf rectangular, but there is a trailer which shows the editor and there it is hexagonal. Is the editor trailer some kind of fake ? it showed some kind of vally environment ~
