Hi everyone,

I recently noticed a problem on some maps, in particular on current Domingo's server maps: I have extremely dark shadows. However, it is not even everywhere (look at the upper left corner in the first screenshot).Also, as you can see, the car is not as dark as the road in the second screenshot.

When you see the third screenshot, taken on a solo map, I think that the difference is striking.

I recently upgraded my PC specs, and while I don't think it may be the cause, I also changed some graphic settings that I thought may be the problem. However, I tried with everything in low including the shadows, it stayed the same.

I have a GTX 1060 6GB (that was not part of the upgrade) with the latest drivers (445.75), a i7 9700k and 32GB of RAM.

I asked the other players of the server, nobody has noticed the same.

Anyone that had the same issue or may know where it could come from?

Yes, I have exactly the same problem as you. This has been happening for quite a few months now but only in a small number of maps - Canyon and Stadium only. Some maps are simply unplayable for me, as the dark areas block out the road completely.

E.g. I get this on maybe one out of ten maps by allan_brun (https://tm.mania-exchange.com/user/profile/11154). He says he always uses the same level for computing shadows, so that's not the cause.

I suspect that some large blocks might have something to do with this but I have not tested that theory myself.

Like you, I've tried all sorts of settings with no improvement. So for the time-being, I'm just living with this, waiting for something magical to happen.

Have you shared this issue somewhere before? I found nothing during my preliminary researches.

Had a brief discussion about this a few weeks ago on MX but nothing helpful there. So, like you, I've been suffering alone...

Hmm okay. Some people told me to reinstall the game. I haven't tried yet because I would need to reinstall all maniaplanet. I'll try that when I have some spare time. Meanwhile, have you tried already?

You could try to delete the configuration file: Default.SystemConfig.Gbx in Maniaplanet\Config in your windows documents folder.
It will be created automatically with default settings at the next start of the game.

After reinstalling the game (didn't work), I did what you suggested TMarc and it worked, thank you so much!

Sometimes the settings get bugged, this typically happens after the change of a video card, but also simply after video card driver updates. This can also happen after a windows update.
