Possible custom scenery solution

I've recently just tried a little "workaround" for adding custom scenery. As i'm sure you're all aware the only 3D models that can be imported into the game are those that are to be used as cars, Not scenery; Now i apologize if this has been tried before and/or is old news or whatever, But you could use the cars themself as the scenery:

Take a car model like this: http://www.trackmania-carpark.com/car.php?id=1883, For example, Which is of a road closed sign. Obviously it'd be wierd to drive one but if you use MediaTracker to record a ghost just standing still and change it to that model (And set the ghost to keep playing), That could work as scenery in itself. If you make the models you want to use as scenery and import them ingame as a car model you could have a limited amount of map customization. The only issue with this is you cannot collide with the object, It has to be a limited size and it noticably slides when on a non-flat surface, But it's useful for some things, For example a rally style track, With a car model of loads of people standing/cheering. A ghost could be recorded of that car/model on either side of the starting line, (Or in the distance) to simulate people being there at the starting line (like most rallys).
