Gamepad is probably best for Canyon.
Wheel is terrible for any trackmania game imo.

Keyboard. Something less on/off would be better, especially for steering, but not using the keyboard isn't an option here.
Generally I think the keyboard implementation is very good. It sucks on rally because the slightest dab has a big effect, so it's impossible to line up the car for long jumps. On coast it is superb. On Canyons I can't quite make my mind up - it seems to be very good indeed, until I need a bit of accuracy and then it seems not to work so well.

Played all TM games with keyboard all my life, started TM2 with KB too but decided to try with gamepad. Surprisingly, I'm doing pretty well so I'll stick with it

I play with my XBox 360 Controller. You can drive with Keyboard, works good, but i think a Gamepad is better for a smoother handling.

Joystick works good in TM2 aswell.
