[TM2] EDITOR CRASHES - editor shuts down system
Posted: 06 Sep 2011, 04:38
CPU: AMD Phenom II 955 - 3.2GHz
GPU: ATi 6850 1GB
RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
OS: Win7 Ultimate x64, single user with full admin
i've been having an issue with the editor crashing and in turn shutting down my entire system. it remains powered, but becomes unresponsive with no image on screen (monitors give me a "no signal" message). it happens intermittently and generally within the first 10 - 20 minutes of use, but i was using it for close to an hour earlier by doing frequent saves so as not to lose good progress. something else that is certain to mess things up is if i try to place a block with a billboard/image on it.
i'm at a loss as to why this is happening. voltages are fine and temps aren't an issue according to CoreTemp and GPUZ. possible driver error or conflict? ram tests negative for errors (have had problems with another batch that i'm sending away on RMA this week) but it may require heavy memory use before an error occurs. i'm just not sure.
