Crash physics? (Not damage!)

Post by xzbobzx »

I've played tmnf for a while, and noticed the crash physics are not that very amazing.
As an example, when you flip your car, it just keeps sliding upside down,
instead of flipping again and, for instance, causing a roll.
Also the gravity works a bit strange sometimes, and cars don't seem to handle head first collisions.
This made me sad time after time, so yea, why not add better crash physics?
It could seriously spice the stunting in the game. :D

Well what if we just reduce the rotational momentum loss?

that it wouldn't be TM..... you have to think that some track would require just the right amount of momentum on a crash to work..... so id say to only have the idea in stunt mode

Ok, but have you ever crashed in tm yourself?
I mean falling from this huge height flipping and rolling to eventually see your car coming down like it fell straight down,
its rather annoying sometimes...

you have to take into account that tm uses air-control and if you alter anything then the air-control no longer works

I like this idea. I've also been pritty annoyed by dropping upside down and not bouncing right up again like it should be (that happened mostly in Stunt and in Race online). Although Trackmania isn't completely based on real life physics, this one should be nice to include in the game.

And why bother if this alters air-control? You can't steer in the air, only brake. And if you hit something with the front or side of your car, it's quite logical that you start rotating and tolling around. That's how they invented the Stunt modus (together with using the ramps and to strange tricks).

(once again, sorry if my english wasn't that good, bad grammar, or if my explanation/opinion sounded confusing)
And it was all the plan of...MR.TROLOLO GUY!

I'm not quite sure about the air control in the other environments, but at least on island and bay you can, if you are rotating in midair, stop the rotation by airbrake (which is some kind of steering in mid air) and can gain you a hugh amount of time on some tracks.

You're right. But didn't this only count for the big-air ramps? (the ones you go straight up, I forgot how you call them)
