More blocks are required

TM2 needs tons more blocks.
At the moment the track editor is so poor that it realy is a shame that players creativity is being so tightened.
So, my real question is. Are there plans for implementing more blocks in the game? Soon?

I think they'll add them (hoping) soon to more variety. It would be nice also to add the possibilty to merge all together each custom mods with the retail one!

100% Agree.

Stadium TMNF has more unique blocks than Canyon but not Stadium TMN ESWC.

I disagree. Number of blocks is not the main point when talking about creativity, but how builders use the blocks.

+ who cares about the number of blocks in Stadium ?

I disagree as well. The amount of blocks is big enough. You only need to be creative enough to use them in a good way :P

Also there are no blocks in the near future planned.

No it doesn't. No they're not.

Sorry to be so rude--but I get really sick of five threads a day proclaiming how this or that in TM2 sucks. If you think you could do a better job, go make your own version! And then see how hard Nadeo worked on -this-. :teub: There are, as the previous posters have said, -plenty- of blocks. You just need to learn how to use them creatively. Instead of exercising your wrist, exercise your brain.

A nice blockmixing tool could solve this, I'm surprised they didn't put this in by default either as a menu option or plugin or whatever, learning from TMUF where I get the feeling that at least 70% of stadium tracks (in use on servers) seem to be blockmixed in some way. And why do people blockmix? Because they feel that if they don't they'll just be making something that 100s of people have already made. Instead it seems (at this point in time) it's even harder to BM in Canyon. Some may call this whining, but without this option and no new blocks, things are gonna get old real fast.

However, somehow I don't think the devs are this shortsighted. I think they're fully aware of this, but they got more important stuff to do first. Remember Canyon is just a small part of the whole Maniaplanet concept and this is all a work in progress. Pretty sure all we need is a bit of patience. Took a while before TMF was at its peak too.

PS: I heard a little bird whisper in my ear that peeps can make custom blocks too though. Although the information about this all seems very cryptic at the moment.

.....eh, you're missing the point here dude, if I buy a product from you, whether it be a loaf of bread, a wheelbarrow or a Donegal handwoven lampshade, I'm perfectly entitled to criticise your product, after all, I have paid for it and this in no way implies that I am claiming that I could make a better product.
Your attempt to interconnect the concepts (I buy, I criticise, therefore I can/should be able to make a better product) would be laughable if it were not so, well laughable, I guess.

No, there are not enough blocks! I speak here as a mapmaker. Along with a friend, I ran one of the most popular TM servers in the UK & Ireland zone. Last time I checked, we had over 13,000 ranked players on our servers and about 30-40,000 logins. I am/was one of the main mapmaker for our server/clan. I don't have any truck with TMX but last time I bothered to count, about 600 of my maps had been used on-line (both on my own and other peoples servers) so I can claim I am reasonably familiar with most TM editors. The Canyon editor is so insanely limited in blocks that even the most creative of mapmakers will struggle to produce anything that is not a replica of at least twenty other maps. A good example is the overuse of the blocks 1/1/_3,4,5,6, yes it's an interesting block and depending on how the map works before it, you can maybe drift, slide or fs it but when you've driven it fifty times on fifty "different" maps, it gets kind of stale!

I've elaborated some of my ideas in the following post
http://bipolarbears.org.uk/Forum/viewto ... =24&t=1167

.....and lastly, seen as how you are the new Pangloss (we had jamie_macdonald on the old TM forum), could you please give us links to your great works on TMX ?
