[SOLVED] Bad frame rates with other cars turned on

I posted this in the Beta Bugs forum but got no response. I'm still getting this issue after updating to the release version
http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic. ... 104#p61860

Greetings all,

I've noticed that when I have "Other cars" showing my frame rates crash from 80-100fps down to 10-20fps.

After some testing I found the problem went away when I set the CPU affinity for the game exe to use a single cpu. As soon as I have more than one CPU frame rates drop down again.

If I turn other cars off I have no problems with frame rates even with all cpus enabled for the game.

Windows 7 -64
AMD 965 quad core
8GB ram
ATI 5770

Mort.

I just worked out what was causing my issue when other players was turned on.

If I set my Audio quality to "High" AND enable the HRTF setting then I get really bad frame rate hits.
It works fine on Normal with HRTF enabled
It works fine on High with HRTF disabled
It goes bad in High with HRTF enabled

So now I'm just going to leave it as Normal with HRTF disabled and hopefully avoid anymore issues.

As far as I understand it, it is basically 3D/surround sound

HRTF is for headphone users - it sounds much more like in reality eg. when you turn your head around the way the sound from a different position changes is hard to simulate with regular stereo, so they use 'binaural recording' - where the microphone has the shape of a human head and it enhances it a lot. HRTF simulates this. Don't use with speakers, you won't hear the difference. :thx:
