Dude! TM is not ripping cars from real life. They create new cars. So you won't have these unless you will use skins

Do someone really use the original cars in the TrackMania games??

I sometimes use the HD cars, and that's the closest i get

The problem with custom cars is that 1) they put a lot of strain on servers if they don't have a locator file and 2) they can cause lag while downloading (which is a real problem with leagues and such).

I tend to just use 2D skins from previous Trackmania games...though that might be rather difficult with TM2.

It would be nice to see the possibility to disable the skin download/mod download seperatly or even to allow players to select for other drivers a skin (so you don't get distracted when there is a flying cow in front of you).

-If servers disable their p2p (like they should, and good serveradmins know this) they won't lag because of that.
If you have a bad connection yourself and custom content loading causes lag, just disable p2p in your config.

-You can download skins and mods seperately, if you have a skin or mod from tm carpark or tm mods for example, in your .:\My Documents\TrackMania\Skins it won't download again, and will show right away.

Nah, it wasn't about me getting laggy, it was about downloading skins over the server p2p, but to be able select if you want to load mods or not. Because it's pretty nice to see player cars, but i hate mods. And if there is a player with a car which is to distracting, so the option to show for him the normal environment car would be pretty good in case of racing (e.g. rounds mode).
