Hi, i am mapping for TM (old) for a long time and made many tracks. Also used a lot of Mods I found over time for my maps. So when I drove my maps with my friends, they also had all these Mods and saw the map as it should appear.
Now I made my first (long) TM2 map, and though they have the same Mods than I do, they can't see my track as it should appear, with the Mod, but just standard. For this Mod you have to pay (Planets). When I first time wanted to use this Mod with my Editor, a message popped up, asking me to enter a key or to pay (Planets). I payed. From then on I could use the Mod.
But when my friends wanted to drive my map, all they could see, was the standard Canyon look and there was no popup asking them if they want to buy the Mod. On the other hand you cant expect every simple player to go into the editor, start to make a map and so activate the Mod. So why did they not get the option to activate the Mod and see my map as it should appear ?
That was not an issue back then. Any details on that ?
Thanks.

If you are right (i did not test), then I agree, that is a problem. A Mod should need to pay it only to build/edit a map which use it, but to play a map with a Mod should always be free...
I have not tested for skins either, is it the same ??

Re: How to activate a Mod as player ?
Well, my experience with Skins in TM was that it usually took almost a full map to play together, before people could see the skin I am using with my cars. Guess that depends on if the right ports for the Network are opened and the automatic skin (temporary) download was working.
Sometimes when you were driving and, for example retired (spectated) and in the second I retired I saw other cars show their real skins. The game is often a bit behind schedule so to speak.
But I am more concerned with Mods. Whats the point when I make a track with a certain Mod, and other players though they also have that Mod, can't see it.
I just remember that another friend of mine told me that he downloaded a mod and a demo track the Mod creator made so people could see how his Mod would look like. Then he also got (before driving) that popup to either enter key or pay. Which means in this case he was forced to pay for the Mod, even if he was just driving a track made with this Mod by its creator.
But honestly, you cant expect people paying for just driving a Map with a certain Mod, which they for example never use to make their own maps with. That would be wrong.
