Well, guess I better get this thread started before it plunges down the topic list... again.

See, ever since I came to this forum I felt that this thread is missing.
I mean, theres a thread for everything here, EXEPT for the solo campaign, and there are a lot of posts about it, but with no dedicated thread they are splattered all over the forum, which makes it hard to follow.

The solo campaign is my main interest in the game, ever since TMNF.

I do play multiplayer on occasion, for recreation, but I couldnt care less about ladder, nor do I understand how planets work, all I know is when I need to pay planets for a mod or a skin or whatever - I seem to have enough of them.

Also, I will download a custom map on occasion, but have little interest in them, at least until there will be an option to create custom solo campaigns, and there is some hope for that with the release of Maniaplanet 2.0. (see developers blog post october 15th).

Now, if I also admit that im not a very big map creator, modder, skinner, scripter, and what not,
then im left with just 1 thing, the pure essance of the game, that which really makes TM great, and that is of course the solo campaign.

The greatest thing about the solo campaign, for me, is the 'Improve' button.
I really like that it doesnt read 'restart' but 'improve'.
That captures everything thats great about this game - SELF IMPROVEMENT - of precision movement - which I highly regard.

I also like that beating the medal ghost unlocks the next map - thats all the reward I need to keep at it.
Thats the basic structure of most games, in its purest form, and gladly WITHOUT some teenage hero story, which im too old to care for anyway.

Sooo what do you think?
What do you think about the TM2 solo campaign as a whole (compared to the previous ones)?
What map are you currently 'stuck' on (I can be of some assistance up until D15 which im currently struggeling through)?
And any 'solo' thoughts you might have.

Do reply and help keep this thread alive!
Cause us 'solo's deserve our own thread too

I also like the solo campaign in TM games.

I am trying to get all the author medals now, lacking the red+black tracks, those are kinda hard

How about the rankings each track got, do you enjoy them? What's your best position in one of those tracks?

C13 could be a pill... gold at 27:33 WR at 21:06 - those are always kinda ridicilous aint they...
Anyway for my modest 25:58 I didnt need to go full speed, just leave the gas a bit on the turns, and start that last left turn drifting with brake (not gas), should do the trick, after a couple of tries.
Also I seem to do better at those narrow roads using the default camera (where the car is bigger), seems to give me better awareness of what the car is doing and hence better control of it.

Did you get the gold on the red and black tracks though? cause im having a real hard time with D15, been at it for over a week now, didnt even get the silver yet... had the lead over the gold after 3 laps but I just cant last 10 laps

rankings - I dont do many official runs... certianly im not top 10 material, is there a place where one can view his position among all official runs submitted? cause that could get me interested.

just then I got green medal on D15.Once you get familiar with the map it's no longer very difficult. It's just hard to avoid crashes because the map is sooo long, you have to be attentive long enough to play it through. It may be of some help that you get gold medal of D15 first and then author record is available in opponents option.I found it easier to have the author opponent playing against me,it helps me focus:)

Currently playing E02.

Yeah the crashes... remember the ad? - "The car feels realistic and the handling is more precise than ever", well that MAY have SOME truth in it, of course APART from the crashes!
cause when you crash, the car first turns into a broken surfboard with no fin, then the gravity turns lunar, and to complete the disaster NADEO kindly pushes the brakes for you, just once...

Yes I got the gold medals on those tracks, D15 was not the hardest for me, it was E03(if you look at the official ranking for E03 you will see that very few have beaten the author medal^^)
About your question, you should be able to see your official ranking in each track after you do an official run(just go to the Global ranking and look at 10° place, your name should be there). The problem is that if your ranking is bad in a track you will probably not be able to read the number, for example, if the rankings is 3495, you will probably just read the first 2 numbers.

ok
1. HOW CAN I WATCH A REPLAY FROM THE GLOBAL RANKING AND/OR FROM THE MEDAL GHOSTS???
Thats so frustrating, I can race against them, but I cant watch their run!!!!
When I choose an official ranking as an opponent, it downloads the replay, it says that it downloads to .../replays/downloaded/...
But then the replay just isnt there! I cant reach it ingame, and it doesnt exist in the folder as well!

Like now, im still at D-15, I dont crash anymore, but I still cant get below 9:00 mins (which doesnt even match the silver medal...), I must be doing something wrong, and I want to learn from the gold medal or from the much better official ranking, but how?

2. What is it about E-03? someone posted that he regrets buying the game just because of E-03 :roflol:

3. Got it about viewing my official ranking Thanks
