I've noticed if I join busy servers that when playing the game it will lock up for a split second every 5-10 seconds, which is making the game unplayable online.

I can't work out whether its to do with getting downloads of players skins or not (the little blue progress bar top right whilst playing?)

I've tried disabling AV, just in case it was AV scanning the downloaded skins but that made no difference.

Lower population servers and solo, even when playing against multiple replays I have no issues with.

Have also tried at all resolutions from 1024x768 up to 1920x1200 with multiple different option re AA, filtering, reflections etc - no change.

Win7-64 on ASUS P7P55D Motherboard
Intel Core i5-650 @ 3.2GHz
8GB Corsair DDR3/1600 PC12800 memory
NVidia GeForce GTX260 1GB with latest drivers

Benchmark reports @ 1920x1200 (no screen freezes at any time)

Try to deactivate upload and maybe download in the launcher.

What is your internet connection?

Can you check your processor and see if it use 100% of this capacity when you have some freezes?

2MB connection (yeh i know, not the best), but no contention at all (i.e. its not flatlining on data transfer)

2 of the 4 cores are showing approx 50% CPU usage, the other 2 cores approx 0-5% usage

Maybe try to reduce the number of ghosts in the launcher, try with 4 for example.

Now tried multiple variations of the following:

- disabled uploads downloads
- cleared cache
- limited ghosts
- ignore player skins
- opponents always visible and hide nearest
- disabled skin cache

and still its doing it - this is really aggravating....

Maybe see your internet bandwidth if it's full or deactivate firewall and antivirus both.

I'm getting the same stuttering too, and I hadn't seen this before a couple of days ago. I have similar system specs: Win7 64 bit, i5 3.2GHz, 16Gb, GeForce 550. I was on a server playing mr dvd mini 3, and it was doing this for that and the previous tracks, so I quit, downloaded the track, and played it locally... and like everything else it runs smooth as silk at 75-100fps.

I have random game freezes too.
And it's nothing related with AV, because I don't use AV crap.

I suspect that may be something related with GFX card memory (512 K) but I think is not. As far as I remember, I have similar issues in one more game - Xpand Rally Xtreme (I can't confirm now, because that was few years ago and I have no longer this game). Is Xpand Rally Xtreme and TM2 using some similar engines? Both are related to Ubisoft somehow.
