Do we will have news..? I no don't think so..
All kidding aside, I still think Nadeo bit off a bit more than they could chew.. It's one thing to make a low budget mp-only FPS -- it's another thing entirely to make a game that people want to buy. As much as I hear about the game, I think.. alright, that sounds alright for a league match -- but what about fun?
In terms of online FPS's, you have two obvious successful examples.. the free-for-all gruesome deathmatch experience brought to us by Quake and UT (rumors of a new Quake, after the rumored Doom 4 next fall!), or the class/team based experience brought to you by franchises such as COD, BF, and TF2 (COD/BF have a few releases every year, while TF2 still has a great following years later, and is now entirely free-to-play). Honestly, what are they trying here?
More than anything... when we buy these other more 'professionally-produced' games, we typically don't receive just
one environment to play in, or just
one gameplay mode.. we typically get an entire game off the bat, to be supplemented by cheap sequels or DLC packs. Even the indie-esque Section 8 (which debuted at $20 and quickly died down to $8) couldn't make it anywhere -- the studio just didn't have the experience to put enough polish on an arguably complete SP
and MP experience. And don't even bring up Brink.. xD
So Nadeo wants to give it a try... I say good luck, I really hope they make it.. But FPS's are a big man's game, and I just don't see Nadeo putting in the necessary effort.
Edit: Brief anecdote about the leaked pics... It reminds me of the days when I was playing HL/CS on PC, and laughing at the ridiculous graphics of my friends playing Hidden and Dangerous on n64, with it's paper-thin walls and doors. There's just no comparison.. like comparing TM2:Canyon to Dirt3.
