now I'm confused.. so let's get to the point!
trackmania has more cars, enviroments, and heard it has better track editor! while the other one has better graphics which enhance the atmospher! so yes, they do help!
I am one click away from ordering! so which one will you choose if you where me?
note: the thing I care the most is modding (maps to be specific), although not really concerned because I can wait for TM2C to get a chance to get accepted by the community and get more mods!
thanks in advance

And TM2 will be expanded with lots of different things in the future. More enviroments(20€ each), Puzzle/stunt/platform mode, maniascripts and on some lucky day even the block import might be included.
Of course getting TM 2 with more environments will be more expensive than TMU now but you won`t get new things for TMU anymore since it`s a finished product. But since TM 2 is not finished it also means that there are some things still missing (like mentioned above).
I think in the long term TM 2 will be better and spending 20€ once per year for a new environment is not much imo.

TrackMania is like a Special Edition Collectors Cup, you have to buy 'em all to complete your collection.
They're all going to be fun though, so it doesn't really matter which you choose.

TMUF:
+ 7 environments including stadium; stadium alone is amazing, the others are just icing.
+ Still a very large online community, though mostly focussed on stadium.
+ Lots of custom cars, tracks, mods, ...
+ Cheap for what you get.
- The non-stadium environments aren't that good.
TM2:
+ Drifting is fun.
+ More user friendly editor.
- Small community, the game didn't sell well (although Nadeo made a profit).
- Very limited environment/driving model, generally only supports "NFS" style drift tracks.
- Expensive in the long run: €60 for 3 environments.
My suggestion is to get TMUF. It is cheaper, has more features and the TMUF online community is much bigger especially if you count TMNF players and their stadium-only servers as well (which are accessible to TMUF players). This is a multiplayer game at heart so you should always play the more popular game.
Still, do not forget about TM2. It is not such a good deal right now but the ball is in Nadeo's camp to make the upcoming Valley DLC the best environment in history. It was delayed for a reason, let's hope the reason was to make it at least as good as Stadium and bring in a lot of new and returning players. Its release is planned for mid-2012.

Weird opinion. All environments are different and that's what matters, however, Stadium indeed is the BIGGEST and cutest environment. If it's the best? That's your own opinion.

I got to go alot with EnaiSiaion here
Go for TMUF first .. Its at a reduced price at the moment and what you learn in TMUF will benefit you in TM2 (except the car handling which is debatable). If you feel you want to experience TM2 then DON'T go by what you see in the videos ... they're too pretty and could sway your judgement. Try it on a friends pc first and get the 'feel' of the game .... then, and only then, will you know if you want it or not. This is what I will do next time when Valley comes out. If I like it then it'll be put on the Christmas or birthday wish list as I cant afford another £20GBP for another part of TM2
Remember that ALL TM environments handle differently. Hope this helps

I agree. I like all the TMUF environments. I think we need to state it more strongly though...
@EnaiSiaon: I wonder what you would think if someone told you that stadium was the only crap environment in TM.
Please think before dissing other environments that other people may like, and making your opinion out to be
truth. (I'm not sure if you mean to do that but it's how it comes across nonetheless). It's not truth it's an opinion. And admitting that will help you get along with people like me, who like everything
except stadium

. Each to his own, right?
However, I would second Enai's recommendation of TMUF, because I prefer fun over graphics

, and for me more variety = more fun.

IMO: Stadium is the worst environment :)
TM:O environments are really challenging because they need lots of practise.
They are very arcady but very hard to master.
TM:S environments are a bit easier to get used to, but especially Coast (which
i love) requires lots of dedication to improve.
TM:N was built for the masses and is quite easy to do well in.
Of course, breaking those records needs lots of training.
TM²:C feels like a merge of Island (TM:S) and Stadium (TM:N) but rather
on the island side with less drift penalty.
But in the end: TMU holds 7 environments, TM² only 1 atm.
So i'd go for TMU (especially with the Star Edition) for the beginning and then
switch over to TM².
