TMU models in TM2?

Hey guys.
A while ago when the game was in beta, I was able to use my TrackMania United, NASCAR
Stock car model, but a more recent update has prohibited me from using the model.
I seem to get an error when I view it in the Paint A Car or select car screen pretty much saying that the model
is now incompatible.

Is there any possible way that I could perhaps convert the model to TM2 format?

It was possible once, but disabled during beta for no good reason.

They would not have chosen to disable it when it had seemingly worked during the beta, unless they had a good reason.

It was obviously their intention to originally have TM1 cars available in the game. So to change their minds, they would have to have had a good reason, even if it's not entirely clear to us.

Having the catalog of custom TM1 cars in the game would have done nothing but add value to TM2. But apparently something caused them to change. Perhaps the existing format moved forward and it became too difficult to maintain backwards compatibility with cars that had no damage. I'm no modeler, so I'm unsure of all the differences between TM1 and TM2 cars, but evidently it's not as simple as cut and paste, or we'd have a lot more TM1 cars imported than are currently available on ManiaPark.

Because you failed to use quotes correctly, one of the moderators deleted your post.

Quotes are for quoting someone else. You can't add your own comments into the middle of the quote unless you change the bbcode tags for the quote.

Even in your post above, you moved what I said out of the quote as if you said it.

I sometimes mess up quotes too, but I always use the edit button to fix the formatting.

I'm curious about how badly these "glowy" skins can look. I've seen that different parts of the skin can be made to glow, so I can only imagine what it could look like in the wrong hands.

I guess if the people you are driving with have a too annoying skin... you can always turn off opponents with "O". But it's less than ideal.

In TM1, people would drive the Eiffel Tower, Checkpoints, and other weird things... and I'd disable opponent for those as well. You'll never get away from those types of players entirely I guess.

People have to learn to chance only the skindiffuse.dds and detailsdifuse.dds
and to stay out of the others
But you know that better than my ....... :D
