[TM2] Retrieving Server List Breaks Internet Connection
Posted: 21 Jan 2012, 06:16
Hi All. I bought TM2/Canyon just before it was released from beta, and had no problems with the game until now. Today, I booted the game and looked for a good server to join. However, after I clicked the "multiplayer" button, the system was taking its time loading the server list. Not thinking anything of it, I alt+tabbed out of the screen to read some Internet. Interestingly enough, none of the webpages I tried to visit would resolve. My router seemed fine, and other hosts on my network continued to work.
Perplexed, I reboot my computer. Everything seemed fine, and I was able to retrieve webpages again. I restarted TM2, and clicked the multiplayer link again. Again, the game is stuck trying to load the server list. Additionally, I alt-tabbed out and I was unable to retrieve any webpages.
This is a strange error, especially considering that I had no problem running TM2 for the first few months I was playing it. I expect to get a lot of "just turn off your firewall" posts, but this is a pretty unacceptable solution. I understand how to forward ports, and have UPnP enabled, and I had no problem playing the game for the first few months with absolutely zero TM2 settings needed on my router page. (I have not, however, hosted a server)
If anyone has come across this particular error before, or if anyone has any insight as to how to solve this problem, I'd appreciate a response. Thanks for your time.
