Map Editor

the E3 video said "one map editor"

That makes a big question... how can you make a racer, a shooter, and an RPG in one map editor?


Open style shooters dont agree with "keep it between the lines" racers.

I would say, if you look at the graphics of the environments in SM and TM2, they looks similar. So i think it seems only logic to use one editor to them.
How the different games will reflect the editor, we don't know.That's because we don't have any information about "how will SM and QM be". So just let's wait for more information.

You build maps with the blocks and so you are able to build everything you want. There is no need to build only one thing. It is the same as building freestyle maps, where you create an "open-world freestylepark" ;)

Well, the editor is the same for all game modes and environments. Just the environment decides what game mode it will be ;) I mean, a SM environment will have spawn blocks and maybe flag blocks, if they have a CTF mode... and TM maps have start/finish blocks and checkpoint blocks... but it's all blocks inside of an environment, this does not change the editor at all :)

if it is fact, then that would mean that they share a programm interface, which would be really cool!

blocks in a shooter and an RPG seem limiting. connecting things like buildings, rocks, ramps, and other barriers would be hard. Unless you were able to edit those blocks yourself.

Nah, i think you have to see it this way.
If you select TM2, then the blocks in the editor will be for racing, if you choose SM, then it will be the SM Blocks. But "how this blocks" will be connected is in all environments the same.

I'm guessing they are as similar as possible and that the SM and QM editors are based on the TM ones... why would they re-invent the wheel?
