We have all read the post that Hylis wrote about how TM2 is doing so well, and we are off to a great start. Our response on the general scale has been that we don't think this is the case for because of lack of advertisement, many bugs etc, but of course, there are exceptions and I know there are some players that think things are going well.
Obviously, I don't want to go off another rant about what Nadeo/ubisoft should or should not do because I know the usual response will come right in my face, something along the lines of 'this is MP, TM2 is just part of the puzzle and many more players will come with SM' or some other metaphor.
I think what would be interesting to do at this point is ask (which I doubt we will get an answer) what the original expectations and targets were, in terms of hard facts and figures- not just comparison to TMU or saying things have gone well...
- How many players did Nadeo expect in the 1st month, by the 3rd month, by the 6th month, after SM?
- Why does the community (in general) feel that we are not getting many players on board? Are we justified to think this?
- Why did you say every 3 months we would get a new game and now it's been 5 months and I still havn't heard any news about TMV or SM?
- What about now... what are your targets and objectives, again, in terms of numbers? SM? QM? You must have some specific idea of your expectations?
I'm very curious to know exactly what's going on and would appreciate a real response to these questions... i'm sure others might also have some questions too. I want MP to succeed but I want to know why it doesn't feel like it is at the moment .
Nadeo, what were your targets? What about now?

Legit questions.
I'd also like to add: Where does Nadeo stand on player input for the continuation of the "Mania" series continuing to have a valid, competitive following? Will Trackmania be its own entity and the central focus of community support?

I think it would be cool to see a short weekly progress report from them just to keep people somewhat up to date on what is being worked on and when to expect updates and new additions. Just a paragraph now and then would keep people from speculating or getting frustrated and giving up on things.

I agree.
The thing that really frustrates me is that i know that some of the nadeo team have read this post (as sometimes I see who is viewing the thread at certain points) yet no answer! Not good!

Because they prefer work on the game
If they answer on all topics, the game will need more time to be ready

They chose the topics they reply to very conveniently though

The fact is that I have already replied many times on this type of questions.
We are making a long story, it is starting really since it is only the start. But if people takes it as the end of the story, they could only be disappointed.
Maniaplanet 2.0, ShootMania and other things are better reasons to start marketing or invitations, like we slowly started two weeks ago. We have no targets, but intentions. We know what we are going to release and thanks to us meeting so many people, you will start to know as well. This is why we are confident and that there is nothing really to say until it comes out. We have to work as fast as possible even if greater quality often takes greater time. We would have liked it to be release earlier, like you do, but weeks only have 7 days.
Our target is to enable to have quantity and quality of experience for players. It is basic targets that should bring basic consequences, like a great number of players.
If ShootMania makes in FPS what TrackMania made in racing, you will have too many people around and critics will go in another direction. I think that TrackMania will benefit of new players as well, but that it is true that since Canyon has been made with the idea of specific gameplay, that Valley will be a good addition to the experience. Especially since it compares also itself to an existing game, TrackMania Forever, that we developed with passion for more than 6 years in a row. I am happy that only some months are still to be awaited in order to see how bigger I think the dynamic could be.
