Reformat had absolutely no effect on my problem. I have to assume that something is wrong with the file I keep downloading or the install doesn't like my particular mix of hardware and software. Guess I don't play the game I paid for until I upgrade my computer. Fun.

Nope. Nothing in my computer has ever been overclocked. I play a lot of games on this machine and this is the only game that does this.

Tried everything you suggested (except installing new drivers as I already had them installed) at both high settings and with them all turned down as low as I could get them. Nothing made a difference. The game will still hitch for several seconds and eventually lock up entirely.

I have to disagree with you on that. This card can run pretty much anything on High settings at 1080p resolutions, save for the newest games. The system requirements for this game aren't THAT high. The newest version of the ATI drivers I see is version 12.2, which I already have installed. There has been no change.

Everything is up to date and this hitching only occurs when playing Trackmania 2.
