[TM2] Performance - Stuttering and Game Lockups

I bought Trackmania 2 a few months ago and still have been unable to get it to work properly, even after asking for support from these forums (and not receiving any). No matter what settings I put the game on (even with 800x600 resolution and EVERYTHING turned down) the game still stutters badly, often for minutes at a time. I have reinstalled the game several times and looked for any help on this matter but found nothing.

My computer is certainly powerful enough to run the game at least at low setting (see below) and I have the newest graphics drivers and Windows updates. I cannot find a reason why my game could be acting up so badly. Is there anything I can do?

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5750 2 GB
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit

Your graphics card is pretty poor but you could try changing the shader mode to "fast" instead of "nice" for a decent performance boost.

I have to disagree with you on that. This card can run pretty much anything on High settings at 1080p resolutions, save for the newest games. The system requirements for this game aren't THAT high.

I don't think it's performance that's my problem exactly (this was just the category my problem best fell in). The hitches the game has don't seem to be "my computer can't run this" hitches - it's just that the game won't run smoothly for some reason. Also, I have turned down EVERYTHING to the lowest setting and set my resolution to 800x600 and it still does this.

Did you try the "fast" shader option?
Also in graphics/compatability set display freq. to 60 and max fps to 60 or whatever your monitor runs at.
Tick the Vsync box.
And set cpu/gpu synchro to "none".
And install the latest 12.4 drivers.

Tried everything you suggested (except installing new drivers as I already had them installed) at both high settings and with them all turned down as low as I could get them. Nothing made a difference. The game will still hitch for several seconds and eventually lock up entirely.

Could be your gfx card or cpu overheating.
Have you overclocked them?

Nope. Nothing in my computer has ever been overclocked. I play a lot of games on this machine and this is the only game that does this.

Uninstall and redownload the most recent game installer from maniaplanet?
Make sure after you uninstall that all traces of "maniaplanet" are deleted. eg the maniaplanet folder in "my documents".

I've had it installed since day one but had an issue for a while with my profile and country location messed up.
I redownloaded the entire new game file and reinstalled and it was sorted. I guess this was becuase it was a newer release than the initial one I had installed that had updated itself over time.
Might be worth a try?

If that doesn't work, uninstall gfx drivers and run driversweeper to get rid of all traces then install the latest ones?

how don't you get that he has a problem with the game, not with his computer? -.- it's really bad optimized, I have to say...
