TMUF has 6 more environments (Desert, Snow, Rally, Island, Coast, Bay), not only Stadium.

it's only visual, if you haven't got it yet.

I'd still have to go with TMUF for content and the amount of users. Despite thousands of people buying TM2 I'm seeing less and less players and servers every week. I frequently count less than 100 players on the approximately 540 servers available (today there was 111 worldwide). Six or eight months ago there was nearly a thousand servers including ours but lack of players has seen this shut down :( Maybe better in a few years time when Nadeo can concentrate on one game at a time instead of three. See you all in TM :pil

Weird opinion. All environments are different and that's what matters, however, Stadium indeed is the BIGGEST and cutest environment. If it's the best? That's your own opinion.
Yes.Stadium has appealed to everyone because it's perfect for any player type unlike others (Coast-slowtech,Island-crazy+fullspeed).
sadsquid wrote:Also, I'm a bit worried that if I bought TMUF, I'd be jumping in too late. I mean, TM2 is going to get all the support going forward, so TMUF is just going to slowly decline right?
Unfortunately, you're partially right.TM2 is the newest game and gets the most support, but TMUF is still all-out fun,the servers aren't empty, and since Star Edition, the anyway great Solo gets even better. It's your choice. My 5 cents is i don't wanna wait for all Canyon envis :?
sadsquid wrote:TMUF seems to have more features, content and variety though.
It does.At least currently.

Not sure,i haven't bought TM2.TMUF can have from 1,2,3...to approx.40.

At the end?I'd pick TMUF Star Edition. :pop:
Like,i've been out of commission for...SIX HUNDRED AND TWENTY TWO YEARS?
Right,that's kind of messed up.

You can't generalize like that. Some people hate stadium for exactly that reason. Personally I'm sick of it because it's practically the only environment that gets played on most servers, even United servers. I don't have any particular favourite environment but Stadium doesn't even crack the top 8. And yes, I know what you're thinking and that's my point. And I can say assuredly that I'm not nearly the only one, either.
If we want to see what most players think... well... all of our opinions will be skewed because of basic psychology -- especially the tendency to associate ourselves with other people/players who share our opinions. I could crack open my research methods textbook and do a survey though :D. Would be interesting...

Also, if you haven't tried TM2, I don't think you have the "authority" (for lack of a better word) to recommend one game over the other -- unless you were in the beta? Apart from that I respect your opinion -- but only as your opinion.

On a milder note if you think you even need the Startrack campaign for great singleplayer you should spend more time looking around TMX. Startrack really isn't a big deal -- or at least it shouldn't be -- compared to the millions of great tracks available that aren't part of any campaign (though you can always add them to yours :D).

I don't have any authority.It's my opinion,with which you don't have to agree.I tried the beta,but haven't bought it.
Alter-Fox wrote:You can't generalize like that. Some people hate stadium for exactly that reason.
That is not unknown to me.As many people wish for a new Stadium and love it,many people hate it.And Ihave to agree,Stadium gets generic over years of usage. However,to a new(er) player it could be a fine start, however depending on his opinion.
Alter-Fox wrote:because it's practically the only environment that gets played on most servers, even United servers.
True. There is 3 possible explanations.(or some of yours)
a)TMNF is more played than i thought.
b)Stadium has become everyday routine,or lack of non-Stadium servers.
c)Stadium has appealed to the community.
Barrett wrote:On a milder note if you think you even need the Startrack campaign for great singleplayer you should spend more time looking around TMX.
I agree.Though i believe it's better to have StarTrack than not to have it.TMX is the first(and best)option though.
Alter-Fox wrote:Startrack really isn't a big deal
Again i agree.It's just a note.It's nice to have it though(i repeat).
In the end? It's your own opinion that decides,i only suggest.

because if these 70 people play on 2-3 servers with tracks not of your taste, you're f**cked. in TMNF there are much more servers with at least some people, and there's more chance to find the one you'd like.

p.s. 500 posts ^^
