how to set a player as spectator ?

I am currently trying to add a feature to my modes to automatically put AFK players as spectators, but i didn't find a way to do that. I tried to unspawn them and set them to clan 0, but that does not seem to be the right way : the player still appears on his old team, but do not spawn anymore.

It's possible with a servercontroller like ManiaLive or Xaseco and a plugin autospec or autokick, but I don't know if it works already.

I don't think that it should be a feature included in a gametype.
It's the job of the dedicated server to do that.

Wasn't it done through Xaseco ?
And yes, Xaseco seems to be working on SM.
