Votebanning

Post by TheTKO »

So today I joined the mebpack 24/7 chicago #1 elite server and someone in there by the name of "shuyinhail" tells everyone besides the 6 people who played the last round to leave. He yelled at us and said that they did not want to switch out spots and that everyone else in the server was to leave immediately. I wasn't going to let him do this so I told him off about it, and then he accessed the votebanning command. He called a vote to ban me from the server, and simply typed "F1" into chat, telling everyone else to vote in favor of banning me. Before I had time to leave 5 people voted yes and I was IP banned from the server. Giving this ability to any random mindless player is a terrible thing, and I strongly feel that it should be removed. I am unaware as to if this is a permanent ban or not, as it did not tell me. I was thinking of buying this game but if this feature remains there is no way I'm going to spend any money on this. Please consider revision of this feature in the next update, thank you for reading.

UPDATE: I'm on the server with this kid right now, I'm trying to get screenshots of him admitting to be voting off anyone who isn't one of his friends. Hopefully customer support could deal with him once i get proof.

UPDATE: I have all of the offenders' log-ins and a screenshot of the chatlog where they explained that they were taking over the server and that no one was allowed to play and there was nothing we could do about it. They also called a vote to ban me with no good reason which is also in the screenshot.

Woah. If it's actually true that any player, or group of players, can permanently ban any other player from a server, that's not cool...at least it should be a temporary ban of a few hours maybe, or there should be a prerequisite that said player was kicked recently, or an admin OKs the decision.

Yea I'm really hoping it wasn't permanent, I used to think that it was some kind of admin command to vote-ban, but it turns out its just really hidden, I just found out how to access and its a little bit ridiculous.

Players are banned from the server until the server admins restart their server. However players can manage their server as they want. They can deactivate the vote functions or increase the vote ratio ;)

Does that mean i'll be unbanned after another major update? Also thank you for the insight.

Yes unless the server admin removes his ban server without restarting it. Maybe he clears the ban list regularly if players have been banned by vote.

But that's not a solution. What's to stop any random player from getting a couple friends, populating a server, and just kicking whoever they don't want to play?

There are very few elite US servers, and it's pretty much all I play. Why would I want to spend money on this game if I can't even play it due to mad little kids? I was banned off one of the few US servers because I joined when a couple of players were taking over a server. Whenever someone wants to take over a public server, they can simply grab a few friends and voteban whenever anyone joins and it will always pass. Instead of votebans, make an individual mute player button. It will hide a bothersome player's text chat and voice from the player that clicks it.

There are no hackers in this game, the voteban button is just there so players with friends on the same server can completely ruin the other player's game experience. Please fix this so people can actually play.

This is a very big issue. I joined one of the few US servers and these people were saying they were inhousing and that we could watch and not play. I am not sure why 6 random people should be able to control a server that is not theirs. http://imgur.com/gR82J

Omnixor, please reconsider your message.

It is nice that they allow to watch, they also could have closed the server instead.
Where is the problem?

From other posts I know that the US/Canada users have big lag issues when playing over here in Europe,
and the same would be for Europeans playing there. It would not make much fun.
So it is understandable they want to stay "inside".
