60 hz vs 120 hz

Post by demxu »

At the moment I have a new 60 hz monitor. (can get 75 hz on low res)
I was wondering if a 120 hz monitor or maybe higher would give you an advantage? or is it just about getting used to it? does the "pros" use a 120 hz monitor?

I didn't find any other place to post this on this forum. I just want to know what other shootmania players think about it.

I think it's possible to play well on 20 fps...

If you want it pose that way, I'm world ranked 300 (should be <100, but I was busy writing articles).

I never have had more than 22 FPS in this game.

Well, high playtime have nothing to do with "dominating" with less than 25 FPS

fps technically don't matter as much. Higher frames per second help to see how the car reacts to your input but won't influence that.

The play time is 2 hours each 2 days.

Yeah it's kind of strange with the fps in this game, it seems to work fine (acceptable but not good) with down to 35 fps while others are unplayable at such rates.

As for the 60hz vs 120hz I can't really tell since I only have a 60hz monitor, but from what I heared 120hz are better.

Some games such as Quake 3 Arena perform physics, AI, networking, and other calculations in sync with the rendered frame rate - this can result in inconsistencies with movement and network prediction code if players are unable to maintain the designed maximum frame rate of 125 FPS.
I'd like to hear developers' comment on this matter - is it relevant to StormMania ?
