[TM2] CONNECTION [Fixed] The client doesn't detect internet

Post by velvestad »

I had my computer at a friends house for some weeks and when I came home TM2 (nor TMNF) couldn't even detect that I was connected to the internet. I think this problem may have been caused by the new internet connection I registered at my friend. He used a router and all, but we had to "log inn" with a password and username each time we connected to the internet. Here at home I use a mobile broadband connection connected through a USB port.

I thought that the problem was that TM2 tried to connect to my friend's internet, so I deleted that profile but it didn't go away. I have installed new motherboard drivers and updated the software to the USB connector as suggested on the support page, and there is no change at all.

When I start TM2, the black "please wait" page last like 0.5 seconds and when I should get to the "connecting" (or something) page there is a box appearing that says:
You are not online.
You will not be able to connect to an account and use all of the game features.
We recommend you connect to the Internet now.
and under it is the "connect" and "stay offline" buttons. If i press connect there instantly appears a box that says "Press OK to retry connection" and I am sent back to the other page.. I have tried to do things suggested in similar posts, but it haven't helped.

I really want to play TM2 soon, so please help me if you can!

Try to disable antivirus and firewall, check the hosts file (Windows\System 32\drivers\etc) and remove all lines with maniaplanet.

sometimes it is related with the Internet Explorer. Check if it's in online mode or lower security settings.

* Suggestion:

Have you looked in the advanced settings at the game launcher :?:
Launcher  Advanced Settings  Network

I'm thinking that maybe the 'Use proxy' box is ticked ..... if so, try un-ticking that.

Also in the Network sheet, you might try clicking on the 'Reset to defaults' button.

If this un-blocks things for you, I think you might then see (after hitting 'Play') the '.... blah blah blah firewall message which comes up after a new installation...'

End of Suggestion *

Good luck :pil

I will definitively try that!

* nothing is changed. I noticed that my connection wasn't set as default tho, but this didn't work. I have also looked through countless post in this forum that is about similar problems (connection problems), but nothing have worked for me yet.

FIXED!

What I did was that I went trough the setting in internet explorer (didn't help to default setting) and un-ticked all boxes related to internet certificates in the security section. I did exactly the same on a friends computer when he had problems connecting to the master server in League of Legends. I recommend only un-ticking the "check for certificates" box first, then un-tick the others if that didn't work.

An easy explanation: Open IE -> Press Alt+X then click on "internet settings" -> Advanced -> Scroll down until you see the security section and un-tick "check for server certificate revocation" and "check for signatures in downloaded programs".

:3 Well done velvestad - that seems complicated and really shouldn't be necessary: I hate that one internet-linked programme can affect another, it's immoral! Of course, we could ask Microsoft to fix this annoying bug but we'd ony get the usual 'please wait' message from them.

Well done anyway - see you online :)
