Heh, even since the start of the beta, no one is playing in the US before around 3pm, even on weekends. I'd speculate there's probably less than 300 "active" US players, and of that maybe 50 are on at any given time.

It's a damn shame, especially as a server operator. It's too bad ShootMania isn't on Steam, which would get them much better exposure in America (I don't know a single US PC gamer who doesn't own at least 10 games on Steam :p) and that the beta was so exclusive. I had several friends interested in the game, but there was no way they would preorder without playing it, and I had no way of sharing the beta with them :(

Relax people. Its currently in beta. Im pretty sure it will be alot more people playing when the game is released! Just look at all the tournaments that picks up the game and so on! People will find the game and eventually try it! Hopefully the game might go to steam? I dont know but it surely would be good!

it won't. nadeo promotes Maniaplanet as its "own Steam", but only with nadeo's games.

How sad! Well lets hope they do some good marketing and that Shootmania gets alot of attention in the Esport scene! That way we will get alot of players! Just dont give up on the game!

Which is baffling. You'd think Nadeo would go "oh hey, EA's created their own Steam clone called Origin that's floundering and they have 50 times the number of users we do, maybe our version won't work so well!" It's like they're developing in isolation chambers or something.

(which would also explain how ShootMania is so great at its core, because they haven't been around for the last ten years of FPS "development" :p)

I really think a connection with Steam would do a world of good. I have told many of my friends about the game but some actually actively refuse to buy games that are not from Steam! They're missing out :(

Well that's too bad, I already added ManiaPlanet to Steam :3

Seriously though, it's a terrible business decision to not put this on Steam, at least after official release.

The system of ManiaPlanet with differents environments isn't compatible with Steam. Valve need to change some conditions to be compatible.
