Not showing Correct FPS in shootmania

hi, this will be hard for me to explain in english but i will do my best!

first of all, i have the Same problems on all 3 PCs
Speccs:

"CPU: i5 2500k, i5 2500k and i5 2500
GPU: nvidia geforce 470, 460 and 460.
RAM: 4GB 8GB and 8GB
Monitor: 120hz (samsung and benq) all 3 of them."

"first i set these settings in maniaplanet settings.
MAX FPS: 120
Refresh rate:120hz"

this are the correct settings to use, right? in all the games i ever playd, this makes the games smooth as possiblie.(quake, counter-strike, warsow, starcraft 2, unreal tournament...)

but i found out that this dose not really apply to shootmania!, 120FPS in shootmania are not really 120FPS, its laggs alot! so what i did was i changed the "MAX FPS" to 500+

now! when i have 270 to 300FPS it act like i have "120 real fps" the movment and evrything are really smooth and really good! BUT! you dont have 300FPS when playing, just on some few spots on the maps. you will never acchive 300 Constant FPS!
when i drop down to 120-200FPS i can REALLY FEEL the lag/FPS loss, but 120FPS should make a game run flawless, or am i wrong about this?

iam playing with evrything on "fastest" and "wery low" and resulotion 800x600. but it dont chang it! i still drop FPS and even tho its above 120, i still Clearly feel the fps drops, likte the game is running in 40FPS.

there for, my theory of Shootmania showing faulse FPS!

it has nothing to do with Vertical sync, i tryd it but it makes it worse! locking my game to 120fps(syncing with my 120hz monitor) makes it lag alot! since for some reason 120fps is not really the true value.

have anyone els notice this? have someone found a fix or sulotion?

on Elite maps like "THe castle" i drop alot and really feel it.

i have the same on the castle, on all other maps i have over 200 fps on the castle im below 200

Try this: goto "Settings->Advanced->Compatibility" and set "screen refresh rate" from 0 to your real refresh rate. Had same kind of problem, steady & fine fps but still very laggy.

Ok guys this might fix your issue:


Goto your ManiaPlanet launcher and visit the config (Steam - select settings, this opens MP with the launcher), Network Speed > select a value of 20% of your internet download speed. For example: I have a 60mb down and I selected DSL 8Mb.

The reason I did this is because this value controls your download speed of other players skins/horns etc. (so it should be passive & unimportant)
Having this value set to your download speed or higher may cause lag issues.

Also set your max FPS to 30+ more frames that your refresh rate of your monitor, as this can allow for any fps drops (probably not true) but as ShootMania tends to set frame at an unusual amount. E.g. FPS limit 120 = ingame FPS 118.857

Although that was back in beta and I'm not sure if this is fixed. I set mine to 200fps and I get 200.00 fps in-game, dropping to 175 occasionally.

what are the settings of the GPU/CPU synchronisation?
Do you have vysnc enabled or disabled?

You know, many settings can be the cause, also HW monitoring utilities, the task manager, any application that does periodic checks, but also hard disk activities, like music player...

Please do not forget to check the power / performance settings.
