Re: Questions and answers
When do you release the next updates/fixes?

Re: Questions and answers
at maximum, I would say next week since we want to give import of objects. And it will be rather only that, in addition to some bugs we found since then.

Re: Questions and answers
I hope I don't end up bugging people by bringing this up all the time, but I would really like some response from Hylis and co, those making the final decisions on what's kosher and what isn't...
Why, as a ManiaScript programmer (ManiaScripter?) trying to create new game modes for this very game, do I have so little control over the players themselves? I can understand some restrictions, like not allowing us to just alter a player's position to whatever we want, but... why are we not allowed to use SetPlayerWeapon on a player when they're alive? Why do we have almost no control over the ability bar, to the point that we couldn't even remove it (or make it larger) if we wanted to?
I was told a while ago by Gugli that these were to stop "sudden changes in gameplay" and to "prevent people from doing modes where players don't know what's happening", which I could begrudgingly accept for a while... but with the release of B1.3 and EliteExp mode, that argument doesn't hold water anymore. You've outright made a game mode that has completely different movements, abilities, etc. than everything else in the game; and I have no idea why, after making this, you would still restrict what we can do via ManiaScript. A new player to EliteExp isn't going to immediately understand - for example - why his jump height is now variable, why players can now wall jump, and why rockets can now be shot out of the air by lasers, when not a single other game mode in the entire game does this.

Re: Questions and answers
Could you (Nadeo) elaborate more on what the Custom Object tool will do? I've been reading these forums almost daily and unless i've somehow missed some glaringly obvious post or something else, I can't find any information at all as to how custom objects are going to be applied; I found a thread about what to export your mesh to/info about how to prepare meshes etc..., But that doesn't really answer my question.
Will "Objects" (As opposed to Blocks which i gather is a different thing) be placeable on a grid? Will there be a maximum size (In units) per object? Will objects be able to have collision models? Will there be any limitations to objects in any way?
I apologize if i seem a little annoyed in this post, But I (And i assume the majority of the TM community) have been waiting for this for a long time, And concerning it's release/information released about it, I have this gut feeling it's going to be no more useful than using custom models as cars and then driving them into place w/ mediatracker (Like Maniacity) Which with Trackmania 2/Maniaplanet is practically impossible as there's a size limit to each car.

Hylis told that nadeo will try to provide you with information on how to use the object import feature in the beta 1.3 announce topicMacgta wrote:Could you (Nadeo) elaborate more on what the Custom Object tool will do? @mattw_cstrfan: I can't answer to your questions, sorry. However I remind you that this is not a thread for having debates, only for asking short and simple questions

Re: Questions and answers
Mattw_cstrfan: because it is another station. And possibly in the future, some script functions will be available when you change of station. But, we will also increase the ability in the scripts themselves and allow some "disabling" inside the mode itself. For example, if we add the falling damage in Elite Exp, player may put it on/off, like friendly fire.
Macgta, the answer is coming today. It is static scenery made of objects that players can import into their Title, or try locally in the editors. Collisions will happen on them and light will be calculated with global illumination as well. So, I think it is better than the way it was for Maniacity. I have gut feeling that your gut feeling may be wrong ^_^
Spaii, Alinoa replied in the topic for the ladder and it is fixed. For the other one, I think it is for the 60 secs. I have to look for this if it is an easy one. It should be.
Eyebo: random word generator ^_^ the number 2 on the list was "GG factory" and the third was "Focus"
We went with Nadeo to be able to build the spirit with the ability to define ourselves entirely.
