My mind just imploded when i thought of the following idea:
Although i am not sure if it's possible as i currently don't have a machine powerful enough to run even the oldest version of photoshop, i thought of the following:
Skin those metal raster blocks into non-transparent solid board-like blocks and create rooms, a maze or whatever.
reason why i've added "minimod" to the title is the fact people can "cheat" by denying download of the custom textures.
so here's my idea for a scripted mod: force ppl to use the custom texture through maniascript. (again, not sure if it's possible by default)

interesting idea.
But you should also understand that the download "denial" is also there to allow users with poor internet bandwith to play online, even if they don't get the full beauty of the game (e.g. no mods, no custom skins etc.)

well, that's the whole idea ^^
untill custom blocks with tm2unlimiterworks perfectly, this is the closest you can get to adding a new theme and type of gameplay. And if you deny low gpu you can even use better looking textures ^^
