This game is dying
I have played this gane since TMO, and in the last year in tm2 I cant even find a server with 16 people thats not a "lol"server or a "short track server", In the past I have had my own servers that were always busy and the community loved them. Tonight which is Monday night, It use to be a big night in TMN and TMUF. I logged into canyon and there where only 83 people playing in the world at 9:38 p.m., that says it all. I love this game but you guys are stalling when it comes to a new enviro, TM2 needs one now before we loose our base of players. This is a great game but you have been too busy with your other opportunities to see it. Platform was another ENVIRO but it was a quick way out you use the same blocks and make a differrent end. Lets get this game rolling again you guys have the power to do that. Thx for a great game but lets make it better like the old days

Re: This game is dying
I think that one picture (anything! I don't care!!) of Valley can wake up the community .

Re: This game is dying
TM2 IS struggling and no one can deny that
The majority of people who bought TM2 last year (costing £20GBP) have now left the game. The price tag has now been reduced to £16 here in the UK and while the game is slowly improving, there are still less players are frequenting it. OK, so we have to wait for the 'other' non-TM games that Nadeo is working on before we get the next environment ... so let hope that SM and QM hurry up so Nadeo can get back to what they do best, Trackmania
We now have a Stunt add-on (not an environment) and Valley is on the way but I'll be very surprised if it gets released before 2013. When it does finally get here I will be 'trying before buying' as it's too much money to fork out and not play the game.
Being a 'Dirt' man I find there is a real lack of dirt track servers AND Rounds mode on TM2 Canyons. Dirt??!! ... you may query! Yes ... there's stacks of the stuff on Canyons ... where there's no track, there is dirt !! All thats needed is a Start/Finish, Signs, Ramps, Turbos, and a few bends/corners to aid direction. The speed and handling are great in the open desert (NOT dirt tracks
). There's some great dirt tracks/maps up on MX but no-one seems to have taken up the mantle and created a dedicated dirt server
I'm sure it would grab the attention of the dirt racers on TMNF/TMUF and boost the player numbers on TM2
My 2 cents

Re: This game is dying
I hope Valley will wake up the community

Re: This game is dying
Well in my eye.. seems that more emphasis is on Storm. For us who just like racing.. well nothing. Some underground blocks that are totally useless unless you build an RPG map.
My Guess: TM will die and shooter etc. may take over.
It's really sad because we all love racing.

Just wait patiently.
My opinion also is that Canyon is not the best balanced and fun TM game, but there are a lot improvements happening allready.
First with maniaplanet 2 and now custom objects etc.. And indeed maybe Valley will attract more peeps.
I'm sure that if the community doesn't grow they will look at other possibilities to attract more people for example to make the game Free to play. Like I told before, as for league of legends, it is free to play and it has a very big community and I guarantee you, they make a LOT of money.
I still think that free to play is the way to go for maniaplanet. Maniaplanet with all its support to make community developed content will only work with a large community. Free to play is the way to go so that everybody will download maniaplanet to there pc's, and start racing, shooting and questing. If they are hooked, let them pay microtransactions for example cars, skins, maps, content, trackeditor, mods, etc.etc. I'm sure Nadeo can come up with some kind of modern free 2 play model.
Like Valve said in an interview recently, they decided to make team fortress 2 free to play, this in order to meet the shifting trends in the industry. And do you think they don't make proffit out of it? I bet they do! Why would they otherwise again decide to develop Dota 2 as a free to play game?
I trust Nadeo in there future content and hope they learned from Canyon and make Valley a total different experience in order to have some diversity in both environments. Good luck Nadeo, way to go!!

Yes, my opinion also is that they should have remained to the TM universe only. I think that all the time they put into the other universes, like shoot and questmania, they could have spent on TM to make it a better experience. And how can they compete with games like unreal, etc? Maybe by going free 2 play?
But ok, thats not what they decided, and I hope that if the community remains this low they have a plan B and go to something like the model I described in the other reply.
Butttttt..., still...., lets wait, like Hylis said, 2 more months and we get more information about Valley!
