And how do you know this won't happen within a company that farms your info for targeted advertising? Do you think all their employees are only the highest quality individuals with the most incorruptible moral standards?Alter-Fox wrote:Yeah, but when I said trusting the retailer I meant trusting that it was secure enough that some random person won't intercept your purchase, take your credit card number, and proceed to spend all your money on $1000.00 shoes from Brazil (or whatever).
This is my personal opinion of course, but I don't mind targeted advertising. It makes the ads I see so much less annoying because they're all relevant to me.
Plus, I'm completely in control of how much of my personal information I put out on the internet and give to places like Steam. If I'm not comfortable sharing something on a site that asks for it specifically, I have no qualms about making it up.
I like to think I'm completely in control of what I buy as well. Advertisements might give me ideas, but they don't dictate my life for me. No matter how much their makers might want them too.

No, but the people demanding the game be released on Steam obviously do
.

The eyes of the plush lobster stared deep into my soul. I picked it up, and then I was a panther.

To be honest it's only because I've bought games on other pages before and I don't remember passwords etc, so I can't re-download. I want everything on one account

Well, now -that- I can understand
But then, why not use the same password for your Steam acct as for your Maniaplanet acct?

It is the same thing, if anyone steal TM2 by hacking your steam account or your maniaplanet account.
It's not very insecure to use the same password two times until one of those accounts were hacked AND these hacker knows, that you have that other account.
Your bank is blown up before THIS will happen.
Buy this game. You will never regret this.

I think more potential players seeing the game is a pretty big bonusCrazilix wrote:But when you import it you can find it in steam.
Releasing the game to steam wouldn't give the players any bonuses or so

Right,that's kind of messed up.

Re: Get Trackmania 2 to Steam
I would very much like to buy this game through steam. Many reasons to buy through steam. I like steam achievements. I like the steam UI. I want all my games in the same place with the ability to download to my current location without having to have different passwords. I want to be able to connect with my friends network on steam whilst I play the game. I want to plug into my TV and use my controller with the steam "big picture" service and also use it on my PC. Exactly the reason I use steam to play all the other few hundred titles I own on there.
If I just add the game to steam myself then when I log on elsewhere I would have to re sign in, re download and re-add this game to steam which is just hassle. Trackmania 2 is a game I want to play but I am also not a obsessed with it so it's not a huge issue if I don't get it. If mania planet ever bring it to steam then I will buy it and show my support but until then I'll just wait.
And that's why I joined this forum. Because I just popped onto the steam forum and people are asking for it. So I thought I'd pop on here and see if there was a thread like this I could say my bit and suggest they release it for that platform. I understand there are compatibility issues but that's the joy of computers. A bit of programming magic and incompatible things become compatible. So do it! Bring it out on steam!

You are vastly underestimating the difficulty of programming.baq99 wrote:A bit of programming magic and incompatible things become compatible. So do it! Bring it out on steam!
Having said that, SEGA's emulated Genesis titles all come together into one "game" on Steam even though they show as separate games on the store page. Something similar might work for the ManiaPlanet games.
