The first time we became aware of visual damage in Canyon was in the 2nd Puzzle screenshot (seen here). This was before the Teaser Trailer or even the Announcement Trailer. The 2nd puzzle started in early April 2011. That was several months before even the closed beta started.

But you're right, if the Stadium car doesn't have visual damage now, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't have it at release. Also, it's already toggleable (is that a word?) in the Replay editor for Canyon. I would imagine that they could also make it toggleable in the game for playing.

I agree that it's best to have visual damage off for driving those long RPGs. I dislike that you have one crash a few seconds in and have to put up with a wrecked car for the next hour of driving. lol

Well, I can't remember if I posted my "opinion" in this topic yet or not, regarding the release of Stadium in TM2. I'm really thrilled! And in many ways I'm more happy for the community than I am for myself. The community has been asking for Nadeo to "save" Nations for a long time. It's so heartwarming to see that they listened. My hope is that the community embraces this new game.

There will be some bumps along the way. I know some Nations players may not initially have the graphics power to run this iteration of Stadium. Though I suspect most have upgraded to a PC within the last 5 years that will be able to run it.

And I think it will give me the motivation to finally learn to make some Stadium tracks I'll be proud to release. Stadium still holds a special place in my heart. TMN ESWC is what introduced me to this wonderful TrackMania world and I wouldn't be here without it. Stadium has introduced so many TM players to this game, it definitely deserves it's place in ManiaPlanet.

Good work to Nadeo and to everyone that made this possible!

By the way, I've spent the last year as part of the Canyon community and playing a lot on this ManiaPlanet platform. If anyone new here ever has any questions, you're more than welcome to PM me and pick my brain. If I can answer, I will. If not, I'll try to direct you to where or who might be able to answer your question.

Great news, and kudos to Nadeo. Perhaps this has been in your plans for some time, or you have listened to the TM communities feedback, either way well done, and I look forward to impatiently awaiting the release :D

Let's celebrate the 2nd of November as a big day in ManiaPlanet history, shall we?
- You did.
- And...
- ...I didn't.

eyebo, they would never show a destroyed car in a good advertisement, which is also the very first teaser for the new Stadium, would they?
Everything looks shiny and clean, except the dirt part and where the cars blow away the dust, if this is not just the exhaust gas in the sunset lights. Romantic athmosphere for race car pilots

Well, that's more the spirit. Yesterday when i first come to this thread to see the reaction i was very disapointed. I thought that some people really don't know how to be glad of something / happy of something plus the fact that some of them was very condescendant - on some others website. Hell, it's just a release video and some people just go to the throat about it.

Damn, I almost hit the roof jumping when I saw those videos, that's how much i was excited. And it's come from someone that have a lot to say about maniaplanet/trackmania concept and how the communication of nadeo is handle. Even from my casual point of view some features could use more transparency.

But, hey, that's Nadeo and they know their games, you can't think for one second they want it to die to profit another one. This is a huge announcement but a very early stage one so :

Good job, keep up the good work, that's my first post on the forum because i wanted to show how much i was excited about this annoucements and that some gamer who aren't known from the community are thrilled about the future.

Sorry for the english, but the french forum are dead ^^

I think we will be able to load old tracks (TMN?/TMNF) without problems - look at the trailer, I can recognize "Equinox" by crooms (1:38), "MoOnL!gHt" by smok3y (0:45 and 1:08) EDIT: and "King of the Speed" by TimeBreaker (1:10, thanks fabio)

Apparently there is an import process, but after that they are playable.
