Hylis said not to debate in that topic.
So that's what I'm doing, opening a new topic.Hylis wrote:If you want a debate, open a topic for other players to participate. But please avoid to debate in this thread

Zooz started by making a claim that every Stadium driver I've ever talked to about this subject would refute. That "there are no bugs". Let's read his quote below:
If everyone is tired of seeing it, you shouldn't have started it again.Zooz wrote:there are no bugs, at least not in the driving... Rammstein bumps were intentionally modeled into the blocks. You guys should learn to just admit you screwed up when you crashed, not blame it on the game
p.s. if you want to continue this discussion send a PM, everyone is tired of seeing it

Personally I think such discussions are healthy, and better than having a dead forum where no one is discussing anything. If people simply stop caring, then the game dies.
The part where Zooz says "there are no bugs" is completely ludicrous. But then he qualifies it with saying "at least not in the driving", which would seem to be true in most cases.
But does it really matter where the bugs come from? They exist. And they exist in places where you should be able to drive your car without some seemingly random crash occurring.
It's a matter of driving your car on what appears to be a flat piece of track and having the car suddenly fly up in the air because of some invisible bump in the block, or in the case of dirt blocks... veer off to the side or suddenly lose speed in an unexpected way.
But alas, I'm a little torn on the subject of landing bugs and wheel pops, etc.
Part of the fun in United environments was learning to build in such a way (and driving in such a way) to avoid bugs. Or in some cases, learning to exploit them for a unique track or a unique driving experience.
I do like that Canyon has very few bugs. It means even very unsmooth tracks with hard landings can still be a lot of fun. But as a result, I think it provides less incentive to map smoothly.
Look at the dirt track making scene in Stadium. If it hadn't been for the excessive bugs on the hard landings on dirt, I doubt people like pantseri would ever have had to perfect dirt style tracks to the level of perfection that he and others have achieved over the years.
The evolution of map making is a strange confluence of influences from many places. The environment itself, the diversity of the blocks, the bugs in the environment, ideas from other map makers, etc. Taking one away is like pulling a card out of a house of cards. It could all come falling down.
My point to all this is... Nadeo has the chance to remove those bugs (or bumps if you like) that directly affect driving in the competitive scene (even if they were intentionally added originally... as Zooz claims), but if they remove too many bugs, they could adversely affect the track making scene. It's a careful balancing act, and one I'm glad I don't have to make.
