I have a request to Nadeo. And I think that I can represent most of the TM United players. Next time when you create a new environment, let it be something in which you have to avoid sliding, not use it to turn. And let the car start sliding or fall if you drive a corner too fast. Those things made all 6 environments of TMU (stadium excluded) be what they are. On canyon the car is meant to be slided, and the video of new valley shows how the driver brakes and the car slides a little bit at the tightest corners. Also, the car seems to have a ncie grip that doesn't make it slide while turning too tight.
Nadeo pls, you are going to wrong way if you make all envis like that. If valley really needs sliding, this is going to be pretty monotonous.

Hi Wormii
Hylis already said in the "Paris Games Week" that nosliding is the way to strike chronos in valley. Keep in mind that Hylis is a Keyboard player, so I think that he just can't noslide it all the way. Or maybe some corners have to be slided, it surely depends of the map and the driver's skill.

Re: Next time when you create a new environment...
yep, i hope you're right...If we look at rally, we could, in some parts of the race, have a dirt driving style and let the car slide a little bit. But it definitly was not as eficient as a great noslide curve...
I'm really confident with these news...And really can't wait the release. But i just really wonder how the tournaments will be. The switch between 3 enviros etc...Can't wait...really...

Re: Next time when you create a new environment...
As it won't be possible to create one server running all environments and you will need to switch the servers to the one that runs the specific environment (source are people who have been on the PGW), I see some problems coming up with the "all environment matches".
But glad to see that valley will be a noslide environment.

A bypass will be to make one server by environment but players will switch automatically on another server at the end of the map. It will be possible with a servercontroller and some features in the API of the dedicated server.
Re: Next time when you create a new environment...
Yeah, but tell this to teams which are not even able to set up one server correctly for a match on one environment as seen in many matches during the TWL.jonthekiller wrote:A bypass will be to make one server by environment but players will switch automatically on another server at the end of the map. There must be an idiot proof way to handle this, or else the competition and the multi-environment approach for leagues will not work.

I agree, I prefer to see multi-environnements server than this method.

exactly, I hate the drifting in Canyon. But I really love all other Nadeo games from the Trackmania Series.Wormii wrote:I have a request to Nadeo. Valley seems to be like the "Rally" in some points for example on the dirt parts you will be "sliding" and on the "street" you will just drift if you turn too hard. And from the gameplay what I have seen from Valley it will really be like that.

Re: Next time when you create a new environment...
We can start the list of problems linked to the mono-enviro servers "feature"...jonthekiller wrote:A bypass will be to make one server by environment but players will switch automatically on another server at the end of the map. * Cons :
- how things go when you switch server ? you come on the other server, probably in middle (time/score) of the map, with potentially other people already playing on it (and eventually not all players won't be able to enter if the server become full ?), then you wait that all have joined (hard to be sure that none failed to join), change map, or restart it without worrying about those who were playing ?
- far more complex to configure servers for a multi-enviro match, but also their controler/manager, so lot more badly set servers (or just not working)
- risks that few players who joined the 1st server just don't succeed to join the other(s) for some unattended reason
- need more servers for a single multi-enviro match (and many teams have already difficulties to have a single one)
- just impossible to handle mass multi-enviro matches like fet, gc, etc. Imagine a FET on 3 environments with 8 div/groups : it would need 8+8+8 match servers and 8+8+8 relay servers.
- logs for a multi-enviro match will be splitted, one part on each server...
- automatic multi-enviro match is just impossible (it would need a very very complex multi-server script, but also would come many problems, checking that players that played previous map have joined before starting, lost scores, etc.)
* Pro :
- easier to manage server and client for Nadeo. Btw we essentially speak about multi-enviro server on TM², not between TM² and SM which could eventually be fun but not really usefull.
- in case of multi-enviros servers, what for those who don't own all the concerned enviros ? The idea of a muti-enviro title seems ok, and logically only those having all the concerned enviros could get/use it ; btw then, would it be possible to make a custom title based on it (ie make a multi-enviros custom title) ?
- other ?
There are also surely other very bad side effects. Let's talk about existing TMUF teams : most don't have s many active players, let's say between 5 and 15...
Of course each player love some enviro(s), like few other(s), dislike or hate some others ; as a result the players of a team play a minimum together because they stay on a server to play with their teammates also on other enviros than their preferred (and also to have more diversity).
If TMUF enviros could not be played on the same server, it's easy to see that it would nearly never happen to see more than 2 or 3 players on the same mono-enviro server, and so probably most of actual existing teams would have disappeared for long time...
Yes probably other teams would have been created, but mostly mono enviro specialists ones : so the multi-enviros competitions would have disappeared too, and the big part of the TMF community would have been fragmented per enviro (like between stadium only players and tmuf multi-enviros players). You will say than i'm pessimist and exaggerating, but i don't think : i'm pretty sure that my own team, and most of the teams that i know well would have exploded for long time.
I don't think that it will go better for TM² with mono-enviro servers that it would have been for TMO/TMS/TMU/TMUF with mono-enviro servers... It will build a fragmented community and disappoint/discourage many old TMUF players (or discrourage them to play any but their preferred enviro), which is i think exactly the opposite than what ManiaPlanet was supposed to do.
Globally, the automatic switch to another server is just less bad than nothing at all, but it's surely not the right solution, at least not for TM² enviros.

-On the original topic-
I personally like the ability to take a corner faster by drifting.
Drift is a skill that once learned can give you better control in cornerning.
It depends on the environment though. A Rally environment should allow drift. A F1 environment should not and a GT environment should allow a balance of both grip and slide.
