Trackmania ² United

Post by Filipe1020 »

I was thinking about this, all the other 6 environments in TM2 Engine, with beautiful graphics, media tracker goodies, Maniaplanet system, HD textures, that would be awesome, of course keeping the same gameplay from the environments, it's like, 6 in one.

It could be free if you own a copy of United Forever, like, add the code of your game and then it's free, just an idea tho, I would love to see that, and updated vehicles too, more detailed and higher quality textures like Canyon, it could use Bibi's TMF HD cars, without the drivers, who knows?

But anyways, imagine Coast, Desert, Rally, Island and the others on TM2 engine, beautiful shaders, shadows, lighting and everything :D

Feel free to develop everything. And to finance the development. And to do the press thingies. And to get reviewers. And contact the publishers. And get everything sorted.

A lot of these environments are currently being re-imagined in a multitude of ways; e.g Desert > Canyon, Rally > Valley. Nadeo's currently building up to a new "TrackMania 2 United". I guess the only exception to this is Stadium.

It might be cool if with each new environment they ported into TM² one of the old ones. Such as Valley with Stadium, Next env with Coast, Next with Bay etc... Although as stated, the new ones are bit like very reworked past ones.

It's Monday here so I'll ask a dumb question: Does anybody know whether the new Stadium will accommodate the zillions of previously made/ played/ adored Stadium tracks?

I sit in awe of the likes of Ganjarider, Blinnermens etc and would really like to see their creations (along with new ones of course) in the TM2 package. :pil
Aside from the new graphics quality etc, I'd really like to be able to switch to the Stadium Pack in-game and find classic tracks, rather than having to quit then log in to my TMU account... ;)

Cheers :)

Likely not possible. I'm under the impression they changed the GBX format for Maniaplanet and likely changed it too much to accomodate maps of the old format.
If this is true though, that still doesn't mean some third party couldn't write a converter from the old to the new map format so we'll see :|

I thought I heard Hylis say they were working on a way to import Stadium tracks to Tm² Stadium but not putting huge efforts into it at this time. Could be wrong though. It shouldn't be too hard to convert and import the block data.

Apparently there is an import process, but after that they are playable.

As Stadium is part of united, it is allowed to discuss about it here. Nevertheless, the other environments should not be forgotten and I'm completely against a united port to maniaplanet at this moment. United was the past, maniaplanet should be the future. It might be a nice try to add united in the future (e.g. in 5 years) to united all trackmaniacs. But as it is now, I don't see any sense in it. Stadium makes sense, because it could bring a lot of new players. The other environments sadly not, because the amount of players is simply to less (but I would love to see them there :D).
