It is not my job to do an affirmation about this, it is yours.
I just made a helpful suggestion so nadeo won't make the same mistake again as on trackmania 2.

It is industry standard to reset any character, gold (planets), items, level, ladders, whatever after a beta ends and the game is released. And it is just logical. It just makes no sense to keep beta data if the game starts (release) and most players already reached the high end range or even the top of a "ladder". The release of a game is its official start and so any game relevant data should be reseted to keep the players playing. But sure ... not my job to teach nadeo to learn out of fails in the past. :D

It is more my job, we would say.

The debate is not that easy. We will probably reduce by some percentage the ladder and/or also diminish the increase speed of it. But a ladder is better when it is established. To reset it to 0 would screw the matchmaking or finding of servers at start for new players who would be mixed with experienced ones.

I understand that starting from 0 is something cool and you feel that you can progress again. With more and more players, the Monday morning balance will make the ladder also more dynamic and give the dynamism that you may are seeking at the moment around it.

So, maybe we will say: start from 50K, instead of start from 0. I don't know.

Ye, the new players will be mixed up with experienced ones Hylis but that will occur just in the very first days after the release. The experienced players will gain ladder points very fast

I understand your point, but I disagree with you because your example is not reflecting what we have here. It's not about reseting advantages that user gained during the beta. The question is : Will the release of the game change your experience you gain from nearly 1 year of gaming. My answer to that would be no. So the ladder will still reflect the "experience" (more accurately the amount of hours played)

On the other side, where I agree with you, the players who gain this experience will be able to go up the new ladder pretty fast, and new players won't be "afraid". But this come at a cost of maybe seeing experienced gamers quiting the game because 1 year of gaming has simply been erased.

Shortly, Hylis you have a hard decision to make

Btw: Your point about not discouraging new gamer is the same every month. Because there won't be million of people joining on the 1st day of release. What about the people joining 5 months later ? And 6? And so on ?

Maybe one solution would be to have one all time ladder and one monthly ladder. Or something like that

100% agree!

Totaly agree again. The nadeo ladder anyway is just a "how many hours does this player played the game" ladder and not at all a "skill-ladder". That is the reason why we have included a 100% skill based ladder into SMART (server controller) as this is really reflecting the skill of a player and not only his playtime.

Can't agree at all, but make the same mistake again as on TM2 and you will also there see the player amount shrinking.
In my eyes there are just two options. 1. Make a mistake and let verything as in beta or 2. (as its regular in business and the only logical and senseful way) reset EVERYTHING with the release of the game.

Reducing the LP at start of the game by any factor (like 30% or 50%) is ineffectual and not all all consistent.

All i can say is that a whole bunch of my clan already is at the high limit, most already reached 80K and if the game is released soon and they wont be reseted, they will play one or two weeks after release and then its over. Its would be just "dumb" and very destructuble for the game and player amount to NOT reset to 0.

My opinion but as i sayed already. Nadeo needs to learn what is beta and what is release and that nearly every gaming company is reseting beta data with the release. I am just telling you, not my job to teach you.

I just say: Make the same mistake as on TM2 (not resetting the ladder at release) and you will see soon as much players playing SM as TM2 currently ... almost none. :(

But you forgot that a competition system is about to come on ManiaPlanet and will certainly (i think ^^) change the behaviour of the competitive players on both games.

You'll know more about the competition system later but it should be quite good :P

I don't see why reseting LP would change a thing. You guys know it is just reflecting the number of hours played. There is no purpose in rushing it. I personnaly don't see any value in it.

However finding a way to avoid mixing noobs and pro is essential.
Pro over killing new players during their first hours is a game breaker for them and they might quit pretty fast.

I would say we need a way to rank people by their skills before the release ô.Ô
